“Knowledge has a beginning but no end.” (Geeta Lyengar) Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is set in a futuristic society where knowledge is scarce. Guy Montag is a fireman that starts fires. In the book, Clarisse, an old woman, and a professor named Faber are the three mentors that help Montag make his way from his old self to new, and help him develop. The first mentor that helps make Montag’s transition from his old self to new is Clarisse. In this scene, Montag and Clarisse walk at night and “Then she seems to remember something and came back to look at him with wonder and curiosity. ‘Are you happy?’ she said” (pg.10).
