It is said that fiction is an essentially rhetorical art and that the author tries to persuade the reader towards a specific view of the world while reading. This is evident in both short stories, A Secret Lost in the Water by Roch Carrier, and He-y Come on Ou-t by Shinichi Hoshi. Although through A Secret Lost in the Water, Roch Carrier displays how fiction is an essentially rhetorical art better than Shinichi Hoshi in He-y, Come on Ou-t (awkard sentence), Shinichi Hoshi demonstrates it better through the use of prognosis. Furthermore, by utilizing the characters, such as the farmer from A Secret Lost in the Water, and the use of symbolism such as the hole from He-y, Come on Ou-t, it is evident that the author makes an endeavour towards persuading
The rides at The Pavilion are not as adrenaline rushing as the rides at Carowinds. Top Spin is a lot like a Ferris wheel and a boat in one. While one part of the ride is going
While entering Islands of Adventure I heard this very loud roar and didn’t know where it was coming from, so I kept walking forward to try and find out and on my left I see this big green roller coaster roaring as it did flips and turns so I followed in amazement and I said aloud, “I wonder what is the name of this ride”? Someone answered me and said “this is the incredible hulk; how don’t you know about this ride”. As I walk through the park I noticed that there are different sections of the park such as superhero land, the lost continent, and wizardly world of harry potter. My favorite one had to have been the lost continent because of this new ride called “The Reign of Kong”. The Reign of Kong was based off of the movie King Kong, but while in the ride it made you feel like you are really in the jungle trying to escape from the dinosaurs and Kong comes and kills them then blood splashes over everyone. After walking around the park all day we got ready to go back to our room it began to pour down rain while walking back to our
Upon walking into Universal Studios again after spending the entire day there, is like walking into a whole new place. Outside the walls it’s business as usual, reality. But after walking in its like stepping into an actual horror movie. When walking into other amusement parks for horror night they all look the same, and Universal Studios is no different but for them it just works. They have many actors walking around playing the part of the characters we see in Hollywood’s scariest movies and you live out your own horr...
First, there is the Raging River. Through the beautiful wooded area of the park, this slide, simulating a ride down rapids, is open to riding by yourself or with a partner. Next, there is the Blackout where you plummet down a twisty slide in total darkness. Following the Blackout is the Twister, the slide where you go into a 360 degree loop, again, either by yourself or with a friend. If you are feeling competitive, the Double Down is a double laned slide where you race someone to the end! This water slide, called the Splash Down, has steep drops where you slide headfirst on a mat into sharp, fast turns. CAT 4 is many people’s favorite, including my brother. This slide is where you fly down a hilltop drop then splash into Lake Lanier. CAT 4 has four lanes, so you can go with a lot of people. The most exhilarating sides are side by side, the Intimidator and Triple Threat. On the Intimidator, you practically slide straight down, while on the Triple Threat, you experience three heart-pounding drops. Finally, the Typhoon, famous for its high turns and rapid decline, this slide gives you the impression of a real Typhoon. These water slides at LanierWorld are sure to appeal to seventh
Submerged is book one of the five part Alaskan Courage Series. This novel is about the McKenna family and their experiences and encounters with other characters such as Bailey and Landon. They are trying to solve a murder case that involved a plane crash and a loved one perishing. The title of this well-written book, Submerged, has multiple meanings. “Submerged” could reference the sunken shipwrecks, the feelings of Bailey, and the physical submersion of an island containing a church.
Osmosis is the facilitated diffusion of water across the cell membrane of a cell. The inside layer of the cell membrane is hydrophilic, meaning water cannot easily pass through the membrane. The cell membrane has to have aquaporins, which are water channel proteins, that move the water across the membrane. If there is a water and salt solution outside the cell, the salt can enter the cell by diffusion, but the cell membrane is not permeable to the water. Because there is more solute solution inside the cell, there is less water. The aquaporins move the water across the membrane until equilibrium is reached.
Since the beginning of time, water has been a source of utmost power. In the Bible’s book of Genesis, the story of creation is told. On the third day, God is said to part the waters to give life to men, animals, and vegetation inhabiting the land. This is similar to how Victor Frankenstein gives life to his monster. Later in Genesis, God approaches Noah, who is a righteous man of God. He tells Noah to build an Ark because he intends to flood the Earth to rid it of the evil and corruption. The Bible, written over 3,000 years ago shows the ability and power of water to transcend time. This allusion shows the power which water can have. In Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, she relates water to her main character, Victor Frankenstein. He gave life to a monster with innocent intentions, yet the monster goes on to kill and destroy. In Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein’s actions symbolically relate to water and the antithesis in which it not only creates, but also destroys life.

Berkeley introduces his water experiment in order to demonstrate that in perception the perceiver does not reach the world itself but is confined to a realm of representations or sense data. We will attempt to demonstrate that Berkeley's description of our experience at the end of the water experiment is inauthentic, that it is not so much a description of an experience as a reconstruction of what we would experience if the receptor organs (the left and right hands) were objects existing in a space partes extra partes. Our argument is that there is nothing in our experience of the illusion to suggest that under normal conditions perception does not reach the world itself.
Never ending queues weaved and meandered through the swarm of people away from the attractions in a random route. People, families, boyfriends and girlfriends stand idle and lethargic, waiting in line patiently for the hurricanes of fear and enjoyment to ride upon them, listening to the squeals of both horror and excitement increasing in volume as the ride turns and twists, goes round the loop-de-loop and curves in every direction.
