Society, naturally moving forward towards greater innovation, is not always willing to pause and examine the outcome of modernization. The modernized world has its disadvantages in regards to the contamination of air and water. Air and water are needed resources in all living life, but when tampered with can cause many negative results. Society’s actions behind the contamination of air and water are easily ignored but the irrefutable consequences are not!
Air contamination is a result of introducing chemical substances into the earth’s atmosphere. Objects used in most of society’s everyday life have a profound impact on the earth’s atmosphere and its’ toxin increase: “emissions from factories, cars, planes, aerosol cans, and second-hand cigarette smoke” (“Encyclopedic”). The cause of air contamination is partly because of the growing ratio of humanity and its industrial boom throughout centuries! The Environmental Pollution Center’s Guide to Understanding and Recognizing Pollution Issues states, “Human activities, yet, are ubiquitous and happen every day. Therefore, their contribution to air pollution is essential.” Pollution is a growing process and as humanity contributes to the contamination of air it also contributes to the contamination of Water.
The disposal of human waste is an unpleasant but true reality when it comes to water contamination. There are many contributors included in water contamination such as; chemical-waste dumping, oil spills, pesticides, and even air. Oil spills are a huge alteration toward water cleanliness but they only “make up about 12% of the oil that enters the ocean. The rest come from shipping travel, drains and dumping” (Water). According to one report, “water is [also] vulnerable to pollution b...

Water is one of the most vital components of human life. It is a necessity, a precious resource that humans need to live, that is taken for granted every day. There is no possible way for life to be sustained on Earth without water – it just cannot happen. The human body itself is composed of almost eighty percent water: almost 95 percent of the human brain is water. It is common knowledge that pure water is the best water – for humans, and for plants and animals. Regardless of this piece of knowledge, humans still find ways to disregard the sanctity of pure water and instead, pollute it. The right to water is not officially a human right. However, because “water is a basic need for human development, health, and well-being… it is an internationally accepted human right” (Thompson 3). Water contamination is an epidemic that is so common these days that it is no longer shocking to even hear that water is contaminated. Water contamination negatively effects water that is used on a daily basis. Continuing on in this way will eventually lead to contamination that will make the existence of clean water impossible.
Water is essential in our everyday life. Water is one of the most important substances on earth. All plants and animals utilize water to survive. Therefore it is vital that there be clean water for our communities to utilize to survive as a whole. Unfortunately because of different determinants our source of water are not always safe to use. We happen to have to deal with contamination of drinking water. Contamination of fresh water used for household needs, including pollution of oceans, rivers, lakes and reservoirs. There are categories of the different contaminants that exist such as Physical contaminants, Chemical contaminants, Biological contaminants, and radiological contaminants ("Types of Drinking Water Contaminants | Drinking Water
The Earth’s surface is covered by over two-thirds of water. With half of the world being covered by water; pollution in the water is a very big crisis that can actually be reduced to some extent. Water pollution is a human problem because it seems to be a recent development that started round the end of the 19th century. Scientists say that “humans have limits with an estimated 7 billion people on the planet, and pollution is a sign of exceeded pollution. According to the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) pollution is a serious problem. “Pollution from toxic chemicals threatens life on this planet. Every ocean and every continent, from the tropics to the once-pristine polar regions, is contaminated." Now that we know how serious it is, let’s talk about what pollution is, what causes it, the effects, and how we can help.
Most people in America find themselves drinking a nice glass of water that has a clean and refreshing taste to it. Most people do not have the privilege of drinking safe water. Contaminated drinking water has been linked to illnesses and deaths within the United States each year. We can solve this problem by finding new ways to clean water such as filtration and using diluted chlorine. Using these methods can lead to a much healthier way of living for those who suffer from contaminated drinking water in the United States. Contaminated water can be classified as water that contains pathogens, mercury, and even arsenic.
Pollution is affecting many individuals and life, as we know it. We need to do something about how it’s affecting our world. That’s why I urge the issue that more people should realize that pollution is an issue that needs to be prevented because of its negative consequences. Which are health affects, the total destruction of environments, and the death of animals and plants. More awareness must be brought up amongst the people and they must realize the long-term benefits it has for the world.
Outdoor air pollution is definite as the statement of several materials called air pollutants into the atmosphere, in attentions that threaten the happiness of living organisms or disturb the function of the environment as a system important to human health damages in numerous ways. Air pol...
One of the pollutants companies cause is water pollution. Water pollution is the impurity of water by chemicals, pathogens and other elements that make water undrinkable. Companies such as Industrial plants are producing more than half of the united states water pollution because when their water sources take away all of the industrial wastes from the manufacturing facilities, they often carry the wastes into waterways and streams which then spread the pollutants into a much bigger area and flow into oceans and rivers. ” More than 40 percent of America’s lakes, rivers, and estuaries were too polluted for drinkin...
Pollution is a global intimidation to the environment and it becomes an alarm word of today’s world. The swift growth of human populations fuelled by scientific developments in health and agriculture has led to a speedy increase in the environmental pollution. Water has a major impact on all aspects of human life, including but not limited to health, food, energy and the economy. The unprecedented inhabitants’ multiplies and the industrial development during the 20th century has not only increased the conventional solid and liquid waste pollutants to critical levels but also produced a range of previously unknown pollution problems for which the society was unprepared. Of the total 220 million deaths per year it was estimated that the causes of death in 12-20 million are due to water and non-fatal infections which is very high(2). The run- off flow is considered to be the freshwater source on which the people depend. The steady flow of fresh water was estimated at 12.700 to 16.000 km3 year which is 4200 km3 per year. It is used for freshwater irrigation, industrial and domestic purposes, and that is estimated to increase by a number of 4350-5200km3 per year . Alternatively, the available fresh water is only 0.5% of the worlds 1.4 billion km3 water, which is also poorly distributed throughout the world (3). There is a limited ability to increase the supply of drinking water due to the
Water being the most important and valuable resource available to us on earth, covering most of the earth surface. Water is the essence of life & is required for life by the humans & the environment. With a growing population of earth, water may be misused or taken for granted by most of us which leads us to water pollution, which not only does harm our water bodies & natural environment, but eventually our drinking water & our human health. In todays world, we have changed the way our industries work, our Agricultural processes & basically everything that works. We as a society want everything to be faster, efficient & making more profit, whilst harming the environment. Industrial & Agricultural work involve the use of many different chemicals
The U.S. and global world are in the state of epidemic environmental issues where global warming and climate change is a threat to our biodiversity. Globalization is advancement to the global world in helping our economy; however, it also produces a threat to our environment. One of the threats to our world is pollution. Three of the major types of pollution that are hazardous to our environment are air pollution, land pollution, and water pollution. Air pollution is a result of carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, arsenic, nitrogen dioxide, mercury dioxins, and leas being released into the air due to massive amounts of fuel combustion, industrial production, and amount of vehicles being used (Mooney, et al., 2015). The soaring levels of air pollution
Earth is a planet that is filled with many natural resources that provide everyone the ability to live. Right at this moment there is approximately 6.6 billion people that is living on this planet. One of the most important resource Earth provides to everyone is water. This resource is something essential to everyone’ life. Each of us is made up water and we need water in order to function. There’s two types of pollution in this world. Those two types of pollution is called point sources and non-point sources. Point sources are chemicals and discharge that come out of sewers and factories. While non-point sources are due to agricultural land run offs and automobile oil on the ground. The water becomes polluted because of such harm to the Earth. As a result of pollution, there are third world countries that don’t have the money to support themselves with a water sanitation system should start using money efficient ways to clean their water as best as they can; such as boiling water and chemical treatment for water.
Air pollution is a type of pollution that can severely damage our environment as well as the earth’s atmosphere. Air pollution occurs all the time when the air contains many substances ...
Some contaminates can be noticed because of an odor, where some cannot because they are odorless. Air pollution is contamination of air by the discharge of harmful substances. We have many pollutants, which cause air pollution. Some examples are carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. All of these pollutants can cause lot cancer, birth defects, brain and nerve damage, long-term injury to the lungs etc. They also harm nature and our environment by destroying forests, lakes, and animals. .Air Pollution is also a form of pollution and arises from factories and transportation depend on huge amounts of fuel. Numerous tons of coal and oil are being consume around the world every year. When we use these types of fuel, they produce not only smoke, but they also put by-products into the atmosphere. The cumulative effect of air pollution poses a grave threat to humans and the environment. “Chemical reactions involving air pollutants can create acidic compounds which can cause harm to vegetation and buildings. Sometimes, when an air pollutant, such as sulfuric acid combines with the water droplets that make up clouds, the water droplets become acidic, forming acid rain.” (Today, 2010) When acid rain falls is bad for trees, and can harm animals and other
Water is extremely essential to our life. It is being polluted by many reasons. However, Water pollution is caused by two means, one is natural water pollution (due to the leaching of rocks, decay of organic matters, decay of dead matters, silting, soil erosion, etc) and another one is man-made water pollution (due to the deforestation, set up of industries near large water bodies, high level emission of industrial wastes, domestic sewage, synthetic chemicals, radio-active wastes, fertilizers, insecticides, pesticides etc).
Are you aware of the detrimental impacts that we have had on our environment? Every second, the Earth is being polluted by poisonous gases, waste products and due to human activities, the world’s climate is dramatically changing. In other words, these impacts do not only harm our environment but also our health. It has been scientifically proven that air pollution causes respiratory diseases and cancer, due to the inhalation of all the harmful chemicals. Water pollution can also lead to typhoid, diarrheal diseases and other waterborne disease, due to the intake of bacteria and parasites. Many people have died due to these health-related illnesses. So why are we still living in this awful condition? Air sustains us and water is a basic necessity, so we should do what we can to prevent pollution. In short, we should protect our environment to ensure a healthy life a...
