There are many things that impact people during their lives. One of the many things that impact the lives of people today is the modern day electronics. People depended on electronics for their everyday use, although only 50 years ago, they were just dreams people were hoping for. There are many electronics in the modern day, but some are used way more than others. The cell phone, computer, and tablet are some of the ones often used by adults. The ones that teenagers use the most is the cell phone, laptop, and game boxes such as the xbox. I believe that the way that teenagers use electronics changes many things about them. Many teenagers use their phones for not only texting, but music, internet browsing, and social media. The way that people …show more content…
Many people use this to keep connected with their friends and families. Facebook begins with a profile where you can tell everyone about you. Your name, phone number, address, family, hobbies, and much more. With this app you can post a status, upload pictures, and even add your location to whatever you are adding to your page. When you upload a status it shows up on your friends news feed where they can like it, comment on it, and even reply to comments made on it directly to the commander. On Facebook you can not only add friends, but you can also like pages and have their post on your news feed as …show more content…
You can even go out to eat and see a kid on his phone while his grandmother is talking to him and see that he is not even paying attention to her. Many teenagers see these apps as a way of life and have even turned to them to when they have bad days or are mad at someone. Teenagers abuse these apps by posting provocative pictures and even have begun to bully over the internet. They do this because they believe they can hide behind the internet and not get caught. Many teenagers are not mature enough to be able to get on these apps and act appropriately, but parents just let them do as they please. Just yesterday a 5th grader tried to follow me on Instagram. Teenagers also do not realize that potential jobs do look through their social media to see the person they are behind the face they saw at an interview. Social media makes a huge impact on teenagers and just everyday people. The impact it makes on you is decided by you. Choose
In Jean Twenge’s article, “Have Smartphones Destroyed a Generation?” he says, “More comfortable in their bedrooms than in a car or at a party, today’s teens are physically safer than teens have ever been. They’re markedly less likely to get into a car accident and, having less of a taste for alcohol than their predecessors, are less susceptible to drinking’s attendant ills.” While this does cause them to be safer, many of them don’t develop satisfactory communication skills considering most of them do not talking to others in person. They also do not learn how to use their body language to properly convey emotion. More evidence for phones not being too harmful comes from Lisa Guernsey’s article, “Don’t Take Away Your Teen’s Phone,” she says, “’I know how easy it is to find negativity and hurt on the internet,’ my daughter told me. But, she added, ‘it is also through the internet, on sites like Tumblr, where teens often find comfort and can engage in discussions of how they are feeling.” While this might paint social media usage in a warm light, people should think of all the pain that comes from usage of social media as well. A point from Jean’s article illustrated this point, “You might expect that teens spend so much time in these new spaces because it makes them happy, but most data suggest it does not.” This points out the fact that even though teenagers spend a lot of time on their phones, it is not
James Franco says “Attention seems to be the name of the game when it comes to social networking”, I agree with this as all teenagers in today’s society seem to want is attention. This affects them by distancing themselves from who they truly are and what they believe in as they are very focused on trying to give the people only what they like to see. For example, the Snapchat article states, “Teens have this fear that people might be doing something cooler than us, so we feel like we need to make it seem like we are doing something even cooler.” Teenagers go that extra step of doing something that they might not agree with just to feel good about getting other’s attention. This has affected teenagers because they have forgotten of expressing what they believe in or what they
A recent outbreak in teen texting is taking a toll on their daily lives. Many teenagers have cell phones. Their parents get them phones for their safety and well-being, but is that what teens really use them for? I for one know that I rarely call my parents or use my phone for important reasons. Most of the time, I’m scrolling through Instagram and snapchat, to keep up with everyone that I will see in less than a day. The editorial from The Jersey Journal, called Teens are going to extremes with texting, informs the common people of the statistics of teen texting. The editorials main argument is communicating the excessiveness of teen texting. The author develops this point through expert uses of word choice, but also extreme examples and statistics.
This exhibits the behavior of someone who cannot live on without knowing the newest scoop. Teenagers are using these applications to feel connected with each other, even if it goes to the point where it is basically meaningless, or harmful to their health. Most adolescents use social media to avoid having a sense of disconnection with their peers and to have someone to communicate with and share their experiences.
Because technology affects teenagers in school, where most of the time they cannot even use their phones, it most definitely affects their social life outside of school, where they are allowed to use it. In a TedTalk by Sherry Turkle, “our little devices, those little devices in our pockets, are so psychologically powerful that they don't only change what we do, they change who we are”. One of the biggest side effects of technology is that it creates new social challenges, making teenagers less sociable in the world. Teenagers are often confused on reality versus the real world; they think everything that happens on the phones happens in the real world, which makes it harder to adjust to the changes as they grow up. When teenagers are too busy playing on their phone, taking pictures, or texting, they are often time ignoring people around them. That is why adults think that teenagers are stubborn and ignorant because they cannot go twenty minutes without checking their phones. Some of the challenges it creates is the lack of communication, decrease in attention spans and distraction, changes in behavior, and causes addictions. Communication is an important skill to have in the work force. It shows employers that teenagers can easily work with anybody and that they have the ability to communicate both written and verbally. But because teenagers are so attached to their phone and reluctant to putting it
When it comes to technologies that have greatly changed and impacted society what better time to look at than the 20th century. It was a time of great leaps and ingenuity. Some inventions of change that molded the technology of today is the personal computer, the automobile, radio waves, rocketry and the atomic bomb. While they may seem rudimentary by today 's standards, the helped to make advancements and life possible in the 20th century.
With the increase of technology, it gives rise to innovations beyond belief. One of the most important innovations of our time is the cell phones. Today, people can now use what would be considered as a computer during the 1900s, in the palm of our hands. The accessibility of the cell phone has instantly changed our way of life.
Most people would agree that the world of technology expanded very much in recent years. More than less, technology always contributed to the development of society, education and in psychological research as well. New modern technology transforming research investigation gradually, helping to improve our understanding and allows us to gather the evidence in an effective way. Resent influence of technological advancement is wide ranging. From the most popular internet invention, through changes in young population and their communication habits to their sophisticated interaction with friend. Teens productively use electronics all the time in their everyday lives. You can use electronics to help you in school or to help you learn. A lot of people use computers or phones to help them with their homework. You can use an online dictionary to look up words or you can look on google
Looking back at the 80s or the 90s, children spend their free time outside their house, playing in mud, hanging around in the neighborhood even climbing the trees. As the technology is rapidly taking over the society, the era is changing too. You can’t find any more children climbing trees or playing in the mud now. Children as young as three or four are now having a smartphone or an electronic device as their toy. As for teenagers who are basically all having a smartphone now, they tend to speak less, type more. They converse their conversation now into messages that can be send through free applications in the smartphones like Whatsapp, WeChat or Kakao Talk. They do not enjoy talking as much as the last generations do; they express their emotions through emoticons and barely show their real expressions in the real situation. For a very common example, u can find teenagers now only hold onto their phone during eating
Technology has taken over the world like deadly virus. Everywhere you look there is some new technology coming out, and taking over the lives of young adolescents. Technology is more commonly used among teens than any other age range. Technology has captivated the minds of young adolescents in a way to where they rely more on their devices for education and social life rather than themselves. Using technology for educational purposes and social life has left negative effects among teens.
Almost every teenager you see has a smart phone with them. Older people complain that children are always on there phone and don 't socialize. There are some people that are on their phones way to much but for the average teenager that is their primary way of connecting with friends. Kids can use smartphones to messages their friends to see what they are doing and if they want to hang out. Before phones became common in all kids you would have to go over to your friends house to see if they were even home. So phones make it easier to make plans with friend. One of the hardest things to do when i was younger was get a bunch of people together to play a game of football. It was hard because I usually didn 't have everyones cell phone number. Now with Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and Facebook you have many other ways of getting a hold of your friends. We all know that everyone hates those long never ending phone calls with grandma. Well know with smartphones you can just text them more frequently to see how they are doing instead of hour phone calls trying to catch up from last
Since the beginning of time, our survival depended on adapting to change. Whether it was adjusting from hot to cold weather or learning how to farm and grow your own food. Technology is not necessarily a computer or an iPod; technology can be a spear to hunt or a can opener. It basically makes our way of life easier. In todays society we need technology to fulfill our daily objectives. Staying up to date in a rapidly changing world of technology is almost impossible. Looking at how technology has evolved since I was a child has blown my mind away. Although I am tech savvy, I feel like in the future, I am going to be just like my grandparents when my mom introduced them to the VCR. To the younger generation the device was simple and self-explanatory, my grandparents were puzzled, helpless and required to call technical support just to figure out how to turn on the VCR. The 1990s were a time where globalization reached its peak, and when science and technology started growing tremendously. That decade contributed to some of the most significant scientific findings and technological inventions in history. Now that I am an expert in technology I am able to compare and contrast the technology from 20 years ago to todays modern technology. The cell phone in your pocket today practicality does everything it took 10 devices to do in the 90s.Your cell phone is a CD player, hand held game, beeper and a television. In such a short period of time technology has developed with celerity. There are three major inventors that play significance in history that has changed the world with their inventions. They enhanced our productivity, how we communicate and how we share information.
