It was June 24, 2015 and we had gotten a call from Johnny, “Mindy is in the hospital!” Quickly, my Mom and Dad dropped what they were doing and turned the car on. Everybody ran to the car without fail,we were heading to Clarion. Before we left, I called Mahliah, when she answered she knew what was happening and ran to my house. We were all very impatient. Just waiting was hard to do. Rewind to a couple months ago to the day before Mindy and Johnny had told my mom. I slept over at their house and the first thing they did was to show and tell. So I frantically tried to help with the decorations and helped out as much as I could. When the day came Mindy had made a paper that said if we thought it was a boy or girl to write our name. Everybody thought it was a boy because of superstitions and thoughts but I thought it was a girl. The side that said it was a boy was full of names, and the girl’s was mostly blank, maybe like three or five names. Basically there was barely any names. So we were having fun and we were eating together as a family. Then it came to the revealing if it was a boy or girl. Everybody in the room was anxious to see if it was a boy or girl. So when it was time, Mindy and Johnny had a box in front of them. Silence filled the room. They opened the box and out flew a Pink balloon then another, and another. Soon Pink balloons filled the room. I froze, then out of nowhere I yelled, “I knew it!” My mom had given me this look, and she was not too pleased because she thought it was a boy and we made a bet between each other. Lewis & Clark, Beowulf, and Amelia Earhart all have something in common with the main character of Their Eyes Were Watching God, Janie Crawford. All these people have embarked on a quest that have resulted in the betterment of themselves. In this novel, Janie’s quest has many goals that change throughout the book. Her initial assessment of what she’d like to “accomplish” in her endeavour is to find true love and gain independence. Throughout the book however, Janie’s quest eventually evolves from her initial superficial assessment of her wants, to that of the overarching “true” meaning of her quest, one that causes her to find herself and become a complete person.
•The main theme of the story is finding oneself and true love. The main character, Janie Crawford’s journey to find her true self and real love through all her hardships.
Finding the news of being pregnant is a big pill to swallow. You keep telling yourself that everything is going to be ok, but nothing seems to be working. Your mind is going from thought to thought and it feels like the walls are closing in on you. You just tell yourself that it’s just some mistake, that you’re not pregnant. Your doctor enters the room and tells you how long you’re pregnant for. Your heart stops. Your face turns a white pale color. "Life is over" you keep telling yourself. After a night of talking and enjoying our time out, we drove home to watch and movie and go to bed. One our way home, I recall seeing an ambulance rush by us, heading towards Portland but we did not think anything of it. So, we got home and went upstairs to go to bed. Sad that we were forgotten, we were barely hungry anymore. When the kids went up for food, we stayed behind. From across the hall, I could see our relatives having a great time gathering their food. Then, something was blocking my view. When I looked up at the face of the figure, I realized it was my Dad coming this way! Quickly, I looked over to Sam who saw the same thing I did. We waited while he slowly made his way down the hallway. By the time he made it, he knew we saw him. Just before the door frame, he stopped and waved for us to come towards him. On our hurried way out of the room, I glanced over at Maddie. She saw us leave and didn’t seem to care all that much. Although Maddie likes our older cousins, she has much more fun with the younger ones. For some reason kids love Maddie. Instead of caring about what Sam and I were up to, she turned her attention to the children whom loved her attention. When Sam and I arrived at our father, he waited to speak so we could catch our breath. “You guys want to sit with your cousins right?” Without hesitation, we nodded in agreement. “Well I guess you can…” Before he could finish, we sped up the hallway.
After she went to the doctors’ she brought us news that her cancer has grown slightly and the surgery will be had when she reaches twenty-two weeks in her pregnancy. The following day I was in choir class, I held back tears all day, but when I walked into Mrs. Chapman’s room I couldn’t hold back anymore. I started crying, so Mrs. Chapman called me into her office and gave me a very comforting hug. We started discussing how she understood what I was going through and how her mother had breast cancer. She explained to me how she was one of the main people who helped her mother while she was sick.

It all started when my mom and Maya's mom (Ms.Pfeiffer) said that "We needed to start babysitting." I told Ms.Pfeiffer "Don't worry I'll babysit Maya for you!" She laughed. Before we knew it the week came and we to start the 1 week camp. We arrived and walked in. The gym was big and lonely because we were every early. Hours passed and it was time to get started. This old Russian women came in, she gave us teddy bears, a manual, and fake baby dolls. (That looked very real) The women told us to be " Very careful, with your baby and treat it like your own!"
