Global Security From where has Militant Islam [terrorism] come and where is it going? The narration of Islam is sated with accounts of divergences in the theory and practice of the religion. The first 300 years from 632 CE to around 950 CE, is the so-called determining period of Islamic thought. There is much argument today about exactly what happened during this period; since the region of Islam was at that time increasing enormously and numerous special provision were made by Muslim conquerors with local leaders all through the conquered lands, permitting the methodical conduct of life to persist(Hawley, T.M., 1992). However, the anger of Arabs and other Muslims continued to grow all through the rest of the twentieth century, not because of any teachings of Islam as such but as a result of the forced power of Muslims by Western nations, which increased with one nakba after another. Two events after World War II fundamentally altered the course of Muslim-Western relations. The first was the beginning of the Cold War, which ended the period of European dominance and polarized the whole world, including Muslims, between the United States and the Soviet Union. Then another main nakba occurred in 1948 the utmost nakba of all in most Arab eyes when all the Western nations cooperatively imposed the configuration of Israel with no obvious concern for the fate of half a million non-Jewish Palestinians(Homer-Dixon, Thomas F, 1998). Arab disgrace grew as the United States both reinforced Israel militarily against the Palestinians and other Arabs and armed Middle Eastern tyrants during the Cold War in return for their often brutal support in the resist against the Soviet Union. In the past 50 years China has attained substantial progress. But China is still a budding country. For a large population and serious environment problems they should be clear-headed in choosing the right trail of development and by working hard, through numerous generations' effort, bring into being a genuine wealthy China.
