When it comes to youth ministry model, variety of views and opinions of youth ministry have been already existed and raised since a long time ago. In other words, one of the most essential matters on youth ministry is having a clear mind about a functional youth ministry model. The purpose of this paper is to think deeply about my own perspective on one of the practical youth ministry models. Furthermore, I will examine the reason why I support certain point of view on a functional youth ministry model along with some of the Bible scriptures.

My primary focus on the model is to build a close relationship individually so that they could form a strong relationship with God. I believe having youth group meetings is a good method. It is not surprised that many people assume that shaping youth group is the most common and easy way to do their ministry. Also there is one more common misunderstanding of the youth group as a ministry model. It should be something different and special. I do not mean that the meeting should have lots of fun so that students do not feel bored. I meant that it should contain one component that can never happen in the secular world. Although I am the one who might plan and organize as a youth pastor, I am just an ordinary person. With that being said, it is important to make sure if a leader is enough to go through any difficulties that he or she might face on their ministry. The Ministry Staff Member by Douglas Fagerstrom, is an excellent book that is designed to help create a clear picture on the role and responsibilities of ministry leaders and volunteers (paid and not paid). The book is practical and relevant to every single person wanting to be involved in a church. I am currently a children’s pastor, and I found valuable information under every part and page of the book that I wish I had known about a year ago. Not only does this book contain content that is valuable and relevant, but it also highlights the importance of financial and personal integrity in ministry relationships.
Bryant and Brunson have done a terrific job of assessing the pastoral ministry and giving sound advice, to the young or prospective pastor. The present author believes that this book should be standard in every pastor’s library. “God promises to be with his servants as they follow” (Bryant and Brunson 2007, 16) The apostle Paul gave three rules to keep the pastor on the track of a good reward: “Fight the Good Fight; Finish the Race; and Keep the Faith.” (Bryant and Brunson 2007, 240-242) The greatest joy for a pastor is to, “Finish well.”
I am vaguely clear right now on my dissertation because I do not have a concrete title. However, my desire is to create a model that can be used in the Black Church that will aid the church in the retention as well as recapturing of Millennials. Deep societal trends impact the religious fervency and participation of Millennials in the Black Church. Many young adults, though remaining Christian, have fallen away from their faith communities, finding them irrelevant. Historically strong across all indicators, the Black Church is ideally positioned to stave off the attrition of youth and young adults, having a missional mindset toward this cohort – prioritizing them in their ministry development and programming. I doubt I will ever find out about all faith based youth clubs ethos and what the underlying principles of their work are. But I hope to find out as much as I can from people working in the sector, from people who have had experiences with faith organisations and reading literature on different churches and their beliefs.

Ministry is messy, filled with many dichotomies that that can sabotage a minister’s effectiveness. Can a minister be entrepreneurial while being a good steward? Can a ministry grow and still be healthy? How does the business of ministry and culture of the church coexist? How do ministries remain ethical while maintain the business of ministry? The Family Friendly Church by Ben Freudenburg was an interesting book that I was not entirely sure how I would react to it because I had heard mixed reviews on it from different people; in the end, after reading it, I ultimately liked it. The book talked about a lot of truth in family ministry how it is not that important in many churches. Ben talked about how at one of his first church’s, he and his wife, Jennifer, took on the role of parents in the youth group and once they took another call the ministry fell apart because they had made it all about them and not the actual parents (Page 18). I like that Ben admitted this about his past and got me thinking about my home church’s youth ministry which parents were not prioritized to be involved

The integration of these dimensions into the theologically reflective practice of ministry along with new knowledge about the practice of ministry will increase hope into the continued growth in spiritual maturity, and development of the church. This information will also reflect the appropriation of a personal and professional ethics, ethical standards and mature conduct in the ministerial profession. My reasoning for striving to earn a Doctor of Minister degree is for it to enable me to be unique, caring, and a knowledgeable clergy person as possible for Gods people. Ministry involves a shared learning community, self-directed knowledge, and applied inquiries in ministry. As a result, the Doctor of Minister programs has often supported students in vocational clarification or reassessment.
Sonnenberg looks at the various different components that make up the bigger picture in the community aspect in a youth worship setting; these components are looked at systematically. In the article Sonnenberg and her fellow researchers addresses four aspects which are discussed theoretically which are the following: physical presence, empathetic and emotional equality, the opportunity to cross social and ecclesiological boundaries and sharing faith (Sonnenberg, Nel, Kock, & Barnard, 2015). In the quest to address the question the importance of these four aspects the researches firstly presented the importance of each of these aspects individually, by analysing previous research and looking at the background regarding these aspects (Sonnenberg, Nel, Kock, & Barnard, 2015). Additionally the researchers observed these four aspects in a practical manner by using various methods to collect data; the data was collected through pictures, videos, field notes, small group and individual interviews and conversations and through email correspondence (Sonnenberg, Nel, Kock, & Barnard, 2015). The leaders of the different organisations and youth groups were also interviewed (Sonnenberg, Nel, Kock, & Barnard, 2015).
