The Man They Call GOAT "There's Michael Jordan and then there is the rest of us." This quote is from NBA Encyclopedia and was said from Magic Johnson, who is considered of of the best players ever. This shows how great Michael Jordan was; nevertheless, how even that some of the greatest players of all time think he is completely out of their league. Michael Jordan is an ex-NBA basketball player who is considered the greatest players of all time; from his early life, NBA career, and to today; Jordan is pure interesting all the way. The book Michael Jordan: The Life, as well states that Magic Johnson also talked about Michael's competitiveness, “ Magic Johnson said of Jordan, “ I thought I was the most competitive person I ever knew, until I met Michael”(Lazenby 979). That same competitiveness has driven him to be the person he is and do the things that he has. According to Mrnussbaum.com it says: “Although he was cut from the Laney High School varsity basketball team his sophomore year in high school, he grew four inches over the summer and averaged 25 points per game as a junior. During his senior year, he became the only player in high school basketball history to average a triple-double (at least 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists per game).” …show more content…
His career was astonishing and is full of many accolades. One of the most memorable plays of his career is “June 14, 1998: On Jordan's final shot against Utah in Game 6, Chicago wins its third straight NBA title and sixth in eight years. It is the second time this decade the Bulls won three consecutive titles”(Aschburner). This is only one of the many highlights of Jordan's amazing career. Highlights like this are reasons why he is considered the best of all time. Another reason why people considered Jordan's career to be so great is by virtue of the amount of championships. Michael Jordan, in his prime, was thought of as one of the greatest basketball champions of all time. A shooting guard, standing at six-six, Jordan was able to out play anyone in his position. He started his career at the University of North Carolina, where he helped his team win a national championship. He then was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in the 1984-85 season. While playing for the Bulls, Jordan received many awards such as, MVP, five championships, Olympic gold medals, slam dunk contests, and many more defensive and offensive awards. Jordan simply dominated the nineties and left the game as a NBA Finals winner in 1998.
Michael Jordan is a retired, extremely successful basketball player who played in the large, National Basketball Association. He was born on February 17, 1963 and his nationality is American. Michael Jordan is a big as most average shooting guards in the NBA at 6 feet 6 inches and his weight is listed at 216 lb. For many people, Michael Jordan is considered the best basketball player to live on the planet. For his whole career, he only played for two different franchises, the successful Chicago Bulls, and the improving Washington Wizards. This amazing player had a couple of large breaks in his career, he retired three times in all, but the first two time he had retired from the league, he returned to the NBA in nearly 3 years each time. After he retired, he played baseball in the MLB, but figured that he was meant for basketball then eventually returned to the NBA. He had astonishing stats in the regular season of the NBA and the playoffs. Michael Jordan is one of the greats because of several different statistics and accomplishments that prove his brilliance.

When Michael was 7 years old his family moved to Wilmington, NC. As a kid, Michael played all sports, and he was a very talented baseball player. Michael would often cut from his classes to practice basketball or would get into altercations with other students. When Michael was a sophomore in high school he tried out for the varsity team and was cut.
Michael Jordan has not only grown as a great athletic but also as a good human being. Jordan loves children and he will help those he can. Through Maslow’s Theory, I could see Michael Jordan Personality. He shows that he fulfills one’s potential and has a nature of the healthy personality. He strikes a nice balance between many polarities in personality. “Maybe this guy is god disguised as Michael Jordan” (Michael Jordan). Michael Jordan is clearly the best basketball player to have ever set foot on a basketball court as Larry Bird put it jokingly. He wasn’t the perfect basketball player but he was good enough to surpass the rest of the league as a whole. Because of his superior skills and incomprehensible work ethic, he can be considered an outlier. There is no other player that has accomplished as much as Jordan and will probably never see something like it again.
Michael Jordan, what comes to your mind when you hear that name? Michael had played for the bulls and had gotten 6 championship rings with the team. Well, is it just me or does that sound like a lot of time in the game of basketball? In 1982 he took a big step up from highschool to college, where he wanted to pursue the basketball dream. He went to college at North Carolina where he played NCAA basketball for just one year before he was drafted in 1984. All eyes were on him when he went on the court, because that just how good he was at the game of basketball. Michael Jordan is one of the greatest players in NBA history, maybe even the greatest of all time.

All the hard work that Jordan did through his life, and all the hard work society did to progress as a whole colloborated in the 1980's, and allowed Michael Jordan to become a revolutionary. When I began my report I didn’t know much about Michael Jordan, but I did know that he was “undoubtedly the greatest player in the history of the NBA'; (“Michael Air Jordan'; 1). It seemed like every time I heard the word basketball I also heard the name Michael Jordan. There’s just no avoiding him. If you are watching television you might see him playing basketball or golf. If you were reading a magazine there will probably be an advertisement with his picture. If you were walking down the street you might see a kid wearing Air Jordan shoes or a Bulls jersey with “JORDAN'; on the back of it. This man is probably as recognizable as the Pope.
Michael Jordan was born on February 17, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York. Jordan's family moved to moved to Wilmington, North Carolina while he was young along with his three siblings. He attended Ogden Elementary School, and later Trask Junior High School. Jordan attended Emsley A. Laney High School, where he anchored his athletic career by playing baseball, football, and basketball ("Michael Jordan" Wikipedia). When jordan was twelve, he played with his local baseball team called the Babe Ruth All-stars. Jordan helped his team win there championship (Mattern 79). As A freshman at Laney, Jordan was cut from the varsity team and was reduced to playin junior varsity. His sophmore year he was cut from the varsity team once again, but this time, his best friend Leroy Smith, made the team. When Michael found out he did not make the team, he said:
When you think of the greatest NBA players ever, who do you think of? Most likely you thought of players such as Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, or Charles Barkley. But, one name surpasses all others when it comes to NBA greats, that name is Michael Jordan. That recognition doesn’t come with just being a good player, you have to be able to prove it and Michael Jordan’s six NBA championships and his 5 MVP’s for certain just helps his case of being the best player of all time all that much more.
The "G.O.A.T.", is coming used term in the sports world meaning, The Greatest of All Time. In the National Basketball Association, when you mention the term, the "G.O.A.T., everyone assumes of one name and one name only, Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan was an innovator of the basketball work and influenced many different people and players that inputted & mimicked Jordan’s style of play and implicated it into their own game. In today's generation, there are several players that many average day people would consider these players on the road to becoming a Jordan type of player, potential or maybe even greater; players that may be able on road to sharing a Michael Jordan type of legacy includes Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and LeBron James.

As a senior in high school he was selected to the McDonald’s All-American Team, and then later accepted a scholarship to play for the University of North Carolina. After three seasons of college ball in which he averaged almost 18 points and 5 rebounds a game. He was selected 3rd overall in the 1984 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls after Hakeem Olajuwon (a hall of fame center with the Houston Rockets) and Sam Bowie (considered a major bust by the Portland Trail Blazers).

In 1981, Michael Jordan stepped foot on North Carolina’s campus as a top recruited freshman and was soon to be one of only four freshmen to ever earn a starting spot under Coach Dean Smith. The University of North Carolina was where Michael Jordan’s legacy started, and as of now, it will not end anytime soon. In his playing days, Michael was a second overall draft pick, Nike client, six-time NBA champ, six-time NBA finals MVP, five-time NBA MVP, and a fourteen-time all-star. After his playing days were over, Jordan’s impact on the game and on the fans never died. He is a role model to many people spanning over all generations from old to young. Michael Jordan not only changed the game of basketball, but more importantly, he changed the sports industry. Because of his American values of motivation, dedication, and a hard work ethic, he has helped defined the way society views the sports industry.
