Michael Jackson was born on August 29, 1958, and raised in Gary, Indiana by Katherine Jackson and Joe Jackson. Michael Jackson’s parents had a total of nine children and he was the seventh to be born. His singing career initiated at the young age of 5 and was the lead singer of the Jackson 5. The Jackson 5 consisted of the five brothers: Jackie, Jermaine, Tito, Marlon and lead singer Michael. They would play at local clubs and bars, however, fortunately, as their talent thrive, their audience expanded. The Jackson 5 began competing in competitions and had the privilege to share the stage with successful artists (Allison, “Michael Jackson: His Life”). A few years later in 1968, Bobby Taylor and The Vancouver discovered the Jackson 5’s talent. After being discovered, they decided to audition at Motown Records and were given the opportunity to sign a deal with them. The signing of the deal led them to move to California. Motown Records played a significant role in Michael Jackson’s music career. The Jackson 5 spent about 10 years with Motown and produced a total of 14 albums.
