One of the most known civilizations that thrived in Mexico was called the Mayans. The Mayans where considered to be pre-Columbian America’s most brilliant civilization. They thrived between 250 and 900 A.D. Thanks to the Mayans we are able to say that we have a calendar and a writing system. They also built cities that functioned as hubs for the surrounding farm towns. A key part of the Mayans was their importance of religion. Their altars were carved with significant dates, histories and elaborate human and divine figures. Just like many civilization the Mayans eventually collapsed in the 10th century. The exact reasons of the collapse are unknown but the most probable reasons are either overpopulation or the damage to the ecological balance. …show more content…

Culture involves people, language, religion, holidays, and much more. When it comes to the people in Mexico they highly value their nation, independence and community. The Mexican culture has be passed down and grown through passed civilization. Today one of the most important things about Mexico’s citizens is their family. Family is one of the most important elements in Mexican society. An individual life is strongly influenced by their family. Many times three or more generations live together under one roof for economical advantage or necessity. In the Mexican society friends are also considered family in fact many times they are called aunt or uncles. Celebrations and gathering are generally with a large group of family and friends and of course in these gathering they will most likely speak one language, which is Spanish. Most of the Mexican population speaks Spanish, as it is the official national language. Even though Spanish is the national language there are still 60 other languages spoken in Mexico. Some of these languages are the Maya, Huastec, Nahuatl, Tarastec, Tortonac, Otomí, Mazahua, Zapotec, Mixtec, Mazatec, Tzeltal and Tozotzil. Another thing that ranges throughout the country is religion. Even though there are many different religions being practiced throughout Mexico the one that dominates is Catholicism. One of the biggest problems they are facing is inequality. Mexico is home of one of the biggest empire from one of the richest men on earth. Although that helps represent Mexico greatly there are also more that 50 million people who live in moderate and extreme poverty. Some of this inequality comes from demonstrations, social unrest and driving factors pushing migration north to the U.S. Mexico is also facing a problem with their education. A few years ago Mexico decided to add an amendment to help Mexico with their education. This amendment declared that professor had to be periodically evaluated to keep their jobs and that senior high school was to be compulsory for the entire population. Although this was an amendment had strong points to help improve the education it became very difficult to assure these rules were applied and followed. They continue to fight for high education and slowly are improving. The government has full control on improving the education and slowly they are improving the education. The reason education is so important for them is because of the difference education can make. The low educational stander prevents that opportunity for the country to develop and makes it difficult to achieve equal opportunity among the population. When people look at the poverty in Mexico they don’t connect the difference that education can make. Mexico is struggling but they are working hard to improve
