Meteorologists study the atmosphere to warn the people of their location of incoming weather. This job requires education after high school from a college or university in a field related to meteorology. The median salary for meteorologists is around or above the average salary for people in the United States. Meteorologists work around the world and work through every weather situation, either indoors or outdoors. Their responsibilities of the job are very important as it could possibly saves from studying future weather. Computer programing and attention to detail are important skills for meteorologists as they use them every day to study the atmosphere. In order for them to study the data collected, specific tools and equipment are required. …show more content…
An advantage for meteorologists is that they are able to predict future weather and potentially save lives during an emergency (Clary 1). Another advantage would be the nationwide opportunities (Clary 1). Since weather constantly occurs consistently around the world, job opportunities can be found in any country. Meteorologists’ median salary is $90,000 per year and can be employed by anyone (Clary 1). A disadvantage for meteorologists is the need for flexible hours and the possibility of working long hours during an emergency (Clary 1). Meteorologists also do not have time off during the holidays, nights, or weekends (“Careers as a TV Meteorologist” 4). Another disadvantage would be the possibility of getting injured on the job. “It can be dangerous because meteorologists often report from hurricanes, blizzards, or tornadoes” (Clary 1). Meteorologists have advantages and disadvantages to their job, but it is worth it in the …show more content…
A college or university degree is required to work in this field. The data they collect are broadcasted, usually on television, or at our fingertips through our cell phones as it is updated constantly. Meteorologists are relied on in every city and country to warn people of upcoming weather. This field will be around in the future as weather is occurring around the world, even as technology advances with in through our cell phones. I am currently undecided on the major that I will study in college, but this is one of my many options. This career is significant in our lives, and sometimes overlooked, but this job can save thousands of lives by preparing people for approaching, potentially severe,
Although Greensburg was almost entirely destroyed, the storm helped to reinforce the important role that storm chasers play in the tracking and warning process of severe weather. By having well-trained, experienced people in the field, meteorologists and weather services are better able to track the exact location and characteristics of tornadic events, relaying that information to the public faster and more accurately than ever before.

You have to have an overall understanding of science and chemistry as well as math. This profession is for outgoing, friendly, loving, caring people who want to make a difference in someone’s life. Education is one of the most important factors in this field. Science is evolving everyday day and it is important to keep up with research. Not only being able to gain knowledge from the years of education but being able to diagnosis patients and giving them the proper treatment. It is important to have good communication skills when having to work with sick children and worried parents. To be able to ask questions by listening to the child and the parent and helping to understand the situation in order to get the child healthy. Diverse is the key to preparation. You will come in contact with many different

Another factor of weather are thunderstorms. The definition of a thunderstorm is a rain shower during which thunder is audible. According to the National Weather Service, a severe thunderstorm must include winds of 58 miles per hour or greater, hail an inch in diameter or bigger, or a tornado. Many perilous weather events are allied with thunderstorms. Cumulus clouds are the ringleader of thunderstorms. Conversely, under the right circumstances, rainfall from thunderstorms instigates flash flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes or lightning. Lightning is responsible for many fires around the world each year and causes fatalities. Powerful winds like straight-line winds are often supplementary with thunderstorms, a crasher of power lines and mobile
A tornado can be forecasted, but it is not the easiest to do, due to so many factors that come into play. Meteologists use many different tools to forecast tornadoes. Meteologists use, barometers, thermometers, and anemometers to calculate tornado factors. Meteologists also use doppler radars, and if conditions develop that are favorable for tornadoes, then a tornado or severe thunderstorm watch is issued.
Although I, like many professional meteorologists, know that these comments are small jokes, it does bother me that the public, or at least a mass of the public hold a common perception that meteorologists just cannot be correct with their forecasts. Maybe I am getting too defensive, but listen to me when I say meteorologists have the burden to predict the unknown. It is not an easy task, nor is the countless hours of physics, calculus, differential equations, exponential mathematics, and chemistry easy to comprehend and learn. Meteorologists take their jobs very seriously as they are essentially the ‘spokesman’ for the weather and an elit...
The weather condition I decided to focus on is tornados partly because they terrify me, and I wanted to learn as much as possible to see if it would lessen my fear of them. It did not.
As a kid, many people think about what they want to do when they grow up. Maybe they wanted to be a princess or the president; whereas some people may want to be zoologists. Zoologists get to work with animals while conducting experiments, research, and observations. Traveling is a large part of a zoologist’s job. They get to travel to research animals that are not in the area. Becoming a zoologist requires working with animals, doing research, and traveling.
To provide a safe working environment, whether it is within the company, or the outside, they have to keep in mind, the changes in weather, or climate or geographical changes within the country.
Environmental conditions play a vital part in aviation as a whole. Much planning goes into a flight based on the current and forecast weather conditions for safety reasons. Accidents have occurred due to flying in bad weather such as thunderstorms with low level wind sheer, lightning, hale, icing conditions and poor visibility. Poor weather especially icing can be very dangerous to flight but most accidents can be avoided if the right precautions are taken to avoid potential bad weather situations. I will take a closer look at icing conditions on aircraft and give examples of icing related accidents
Measurement approach- taking a range of temperatures over time, reading and observing the situation, also to assess the situation by getting expect advice and suggestions. Taking the maximum and minimum weather conditions implementing a plan based on this information. Triggering an evacuation alarm.
What are the advantages to studying an undergraduate degree and how do you think the successful completion of your degree will help you in your life?
The weather forecasters use probability and statistics just as much if not more than any other field on earth. As weather patterns are not fully understood and are dynamic, analysts have to rely heavily on past weather systems and patterns to “guess'; or estimate the possibility of present weather systems to behave in similar manners. If the probability of its behavior, subject to certain factors, in one manner over another is high forecasters make decisions as to how to advise the public.
