Mentoring to Give Someone Advantages

Mentoring, in my understanding, is helping the person to achieve his /her goals using different methods. Mentor is somebody who knows the advantages and disadvantages of the person, and constantly encourages him /her to use the advantages in order to develop new skills, which can be used on the way to the main aim. Mentoring is a highly effective way to help the person to use the full range of his /her natural abilities. Usually people do not realize the real value of his /her possibilities and the possible ways to reach the needed results, thus, a lot of highly talented people live their lives without even realizing the real value of their talents. Mentors can be compared to the fairy godmothers, which come and help the person to realize and use the full range of his /her life opportunities. Mentors are able to stay calm in critical situations and give precious pieces of advises to their mentees. Thus, in my opinion, finding a good mentor is passing half a way to success. In my point of view, there are two main purposes of mentoring: the chance to reach the aims for the mentee and the chance to improve the mentoring skills of the mentor. Mentoring is often associated with the advantages for the mentee, who can grow under the skillful guidance of their mentors. However, we should also pay attention, that every mentor becomes more experienced every time he helps his mentee, and coordinates his aims and actions. Thus, the process of mentoring is useful for both participants of it. The relationships between the mentor and mentee should be based on three basic aspects: trust, responsibility and clear working plan. On one hand, mentor cannot do anything if his mentee do not trust him. Mentee should be always honest with his mentor, an... ... middle of paper ... ...o find the disadvantages of it. This can help him in creation of the better climate and developing the most comfortable working environment for all the mentees. In the “mentor-mentee” relationships the role of two participants is equally important. However, their roles are different, if taking into account their role models. The mentor’s role is a “teacher” and he cannot show the lack of self confidence. Mentor should always control the process of mentoring, and do his best to help the mentee to reach the aim. At the same time, mentee cannot show disobedience, he should fully trust his teacher and follow his recommendation clearly. Mentee is a student, thus he shouldn’t take his mentor’s work for granted and appreciate all the information he gives. If the role models are followed by both the participants of the mentoring process, it will definitely be successful.
