Therapy is applying a process to treat a problem , soothe pain and repair damage and even thoughts.Counseling technically means providing advice and guidance to help you through out your life .Therapy and counseling are types of treatment to improve mental well-beings. These treatments can help people who are emotional or have behavior problems or people who have mental health disorder problems.Therapy is sometimes called psychotherapy. If you are taking medication for a mental disorder , therapy will usually improve the results you are getting from the medicine by helping you talk about your issues. Also if you think or know that your medication is not working or is making you feel weird or you are having sickness from the medicine that the doctor gave you. A therapist is the right person to go to to get it fixed and for you may feel better. Different types of therapy use different ways to do things to help you. In most kinds of therapy and counseling the person receiving treatment will talk to a professional therapist. However therapy is more than just talking about your problems .
I can completely change how you go about your day for the good or the bad. It is important for you to know that your mental health is just as important as your physical health. If you have bad mental health then you can do some things like; talk to people close to you and set personal goals, to help give yourself that peace of mind. It sometimes takes a long time to realize if you're healthy or not. But once you do, it's important to improve yourself and find coping mechanisms that help you reach your goals.
Gestalt therapy helps clients focus on the here-and-now experience and helps them recognize their awareness by using different techniques during therapy. The reason why I decided to focus on this theoretical orientation was because in contrast to other therapies, the client is deeply involved in the therapy; coming up with their conclusions and discovering their self-awareness in the process, which helps them recognize their self, instead of continuing to focus on their ideal self. With the client being aware of their emotion, thoughts, and their environment, they will be able have insight on what they can do to resolve their current problems and have a holistic view of life. The therapist’s goal is to facilitate the therapy, focusing on the clients verbal and nonverbal behaviors, assisting them to be more self-reliant, and helping them focus on the present. During therapy, there is a continuous dialogue between the client and the therapist, in which the therapist shows warmth and acceptance (Jones-Smith, 2012).
In all I believe that OCD should get serious attention as not only a mental disorder but as a serious health problem. In the future I hope to see more effective prevention and intervention methods introduced to ease the pain of millions of patients.

In the article, “Psychotherapy Works But Not for Everyone,” the author explains, “Some therapists are empathic and intuitive, ask for feedback, evaluate the therapy, and share the goal and process continuously with the patients. Others fall short on one or all of these critical dimensions” (Frances). The relationship developed between a therapist and patient can affect the effectiveness of a session. One type of therapist may work well for one patient, but not for another. (Frances) Those who try medications, like antidepressants, have had different experiences with the effectiveness of such treatment.
If one day someone close to you was diagnosed with dementia, wouldn’t you want their life to be made easier with options on treatment? This is one of many reasons more funding should be provided to help improve lives, and find a possible cure to this horrible disease which plagues many.
Psyco- education should be one of the primary resources used by therapists to treat their clients. It can change the life of the patient in endless ways. Being educated about their mental illness and how to control it, could give them a better quality life. They would have the knowledge of why they are feeling the way they are, thus, a better self-control of emotions could be reached. The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy worksheets fit in psychoeducation by teaching patients how to express their feelings and through this, find alternative thoughts that could make them feel
Aside of bringing unconscious thoughts forward, the therapist also watches for defense mechanisms that the client might use. These defense mechanisms are important to the therapist, because they provide insight to the person’s wishes, feelings, and impulses. A benefit to using psychodynamic treatment over other approaches is that it is better suited for handling complex cases of PTSD, as well as comorbid cases. In addition to that, because it focuses heavily on interpersonal relationships, it helps create a social support system for the client. Having social support may aid the client in recovering.
Useful to Know Instillation of hope is useful to know for several reasons number one is hope to help patients still in therapy to reach their goals. Faith to believe that the treatment is working well for the patient. Also, other members in the instillation of hope observe their fellow members that are improving. It is also useful to know that the instillation of hope encourages the therapist to believe in themselves when counseling a group. The corrective emotional experience to me is useful in group work because the therapist uses the concept of the here-and-now method.
