Although society is becoming more progressive, it is vital that the harsh treatments of individuals with different religions must never be erased from memory. In the play of The Diary of Anne Frank, by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, Anne Frank, a young girl, along with her family, the Van Daans, and Dussel, are hiding from the German Nazis. If they are caught, they would be sent off somewhere nobody would find them and come back. Trust and friendship lead to perfect harmony among people. When there is a sense of trust between individuals, a life lived in harmony is achieved. What Margot remembers best are, “The presents [they] used to get” (250). The whole room is filled with joy as Anne gives each and everyone of her family and acquaintances a present. To Margot, a puzzle book, Mrs. Van Daan with hair shampoo, Mr. Van Daan is offered cigarettes.As time passes, Anne's friends and family begin to lose faith, and the tension between each other arise, but when Anne brings them together during the holidays, they gain their trust back, …show more content…

One beneficial conversation was between Anne and Peter, “I think you’re pretty … You’ve changed…” (269). Anne responds saying, “I’m glad you don’t just hate me,” (269). The peace and tranquility in the room gives Anne and Peter the opportunity to grow their relationship, even with affection. Anne believes that everyone is in grave danger, “I wish you had a religion, Peter… I just mean some religion … it doesn’t matter what. Just to believe in something!” (278-279). Anne thinks that having a religion would help everyone in rough times and create a more tranquil environment, at least you would know where you would end up. It isn’t just Anne who thinks this, Margot does the same, “Sometimes I wish the end would come … whatever it is,” (263).
