Melissa Peirce has been living in Nashville for 20 years as a professional songwriter. Within the past several years, her songs have been recorded by Reba McEntire, LeAnn Rimes, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley, Hunter Hayes, David Nail, Tyler Farr, Eli Young Band, Joss Stone, Randy Montana, John Paul White (The Civil Wars), Kenny Chesney, and many more. Her latest songs on the Country Top Ten chart are David Nail’s “Red Light,” Tyler Farr’s “Guy Walks Into a Bar,” Reba’s “I’m Gonna Take That Mountain,” and Eli Young Band’s “Say Goodnight,” all earning multiple awards. Since then, she has had successful cuts by Disney artists for TV shows, movies and even some books. Her best known single was featured in the recent DisneyNature film “Bears.” Olivia Holt, a recently signed Disney Artist, sang a song written by herself and Melissa titled “Carry On.” Songwriting is not an easy career. Many people like to think it is, or that you could never make a career out of it, but Melissa says otherwise “I’ve never been without a deal or paycheck in fifteen years. That’s pretty cool. Let that be a testimony to being able to stay employed in the arts!” Making a dream a reality was not easy for her or any aspiring songwriter. “It requires A LOT of hard work,” says Melissa, “if you are willing to take chances and work hard for what you love, you will be rewarded.” Throughout her years studying at Belmont University, one of her songwriting professors told her she could never make it in the music business; she proved him wrong. Once she graduated, Reba McEntire cut her first song. The song, “I’m Gonna Take That Mountain,” landed itself as a number one music video and made top ten on the country
