Most people associate the Facebook social media with young citizens. People believe that the Facebook social media platform was created and designed only to fit the young adults. This notion came about because over 75% of Facebook users are below the age of 45 (Ongeri, 2). Also, most of the social activities the take place on the Facebook platform are associated with young adults. For instance, most occasions the Facebook is used for mingling. The mingling is only considered as an act of the younger generation (Ruti & Moran, 46). Again, the technology that is associated with the Facebook application is viewed to be bias and favor only the young adults. It is possible to create and manage social clusters in the Facebook media application. Everyone will agree that the old people have the tendency of categorizing themselves as a group of particular interest in the society. The ability of the Facebook to provide a platform for categorization of people with similar characteristics and interests enable the formation of such groups. This could be based on age brackets, the area of location, and ideologies (Philippa et al., 12). The senior people can share their ideas and experiences among themselves. Moreover, they can also share the lifetime events that they have undergone through. In as much as the issues surrounding the use Facebook social media platform are many, the central idea is the welfare of its users. The social media plays a critical role in self-efficacy, general knowledge, social connectedness and life skills (Ellison et al., 443). The well-being of an individual is justified if they get the satisfaction of the mentioned attributes. The sense of ownership, accomplishment, and empowerment attained from the Facebook social platform provide this satisfaction, therefore, making it a driving factor towards satisfying the well-being of an individual.
