Media is a plural term for the word medium. In the media industry, there are many different mediums that exist and in all aspects of our lives there is media. Convergence means an intersection when things are passing through. The point where they meet each other and have a clash between one another. In other words, media convergence is the clash between one medium with other media. Relating to our current lives, media convergence can vary in a huge range because there has been too much changes and clashes happening. Especially between the old media and the new media. Media convergence is basically the changes of the media and it is also about how media has been evolving around us consumers through out the years in terms of the society, industry , technologies, cultures and usage by consumers. It is also a point of time whether different media come together to produce a single product.
For example, to produce a movie we need to have a lot of contribution from different types of medium. There can be a collaboration from the sound recordings to contribute sounds and music for the movie in order to express the emotions more. We have the radio, television and newspaper that can promote and advertise the movie locally or worldwide. Other than that we have the film production who will be producing the movie itself being handy at work. This is one example where media convergence can lead us to .
Media convergence can also be referred to the development of the devices as technologies nowadays are advancing real quick. It strikes between the new and old media where in fact, the new media is more reliable, efficient and not much of time consuming because these days, the new media allows us to be more specific and the usage of media is depen...

...as well. These leads to cencorship and piracy laws. It means that these lead to us seeing more of the increased of cencorship and also having a more strict law piracy. This is acceptable as the level of piracy is increasing and piracy can be done for all kind of media. Some examples are song albums, movies and pornography which are not allowed in Singapore.
No, people cannot have free access to all the media. To come out with a certain idea and produce it, it cost money and the reason why we are being charged for viewing these movies and downloading music is so that the producers could get back the budget they have used for production or maybe a reward which will be more than the budget they used. That is the aim of producers, is to get more than what they used to produce a certain project because if not, their hard work contributed will all be gone for nothing.
Convergence is a good thing. When companies sell products, they need help from a marketing, public relations, and financial point of view. Traditional marketing and public relations when done well all service the same master-- the customer.
... stressing the importance of stopping piracy in China. The elimination of piracy is unlikely, but it can be reduced.
Their study focused on information on causes, attitudes, and reasons for online piracy, which can help companies be better prepared to face piracy and stimulate legal commerce of their products. They proposed that secondary incentives, which may be harder to pirate or may not be pirated, would possibly make sales more competitive with the “free” offerings of piracy.
With the boom of technology in China and the new capitalism ideas, China also has a huge piracy problem. According to the International Intellectual Property Alliance's 2003 report on China, the piracy problem in China creates $1.85 billion in 2002 alone with 90% piracy rates for all copyrighted materials.5 This piracy problem affects negatively on China's global relations and economic improvements. China's current copyright laws are still in its teenage years, and the fast pace of technological advancement isn't helping either.
In today 's world the media has enormous power. Media industries are operating in a market increasingly globalized and more monopolistic. In addition, the media come daily in our homes, deeply affecting our way of seeing the world. Adults and children and youth spend many hours a day watching television, transforming this activity into a more in all daily activities. Even more powerful is the ongoing revolution such as the development that has had and continues to have a means of communication such as the Internet.
Currently, our society is changing again with the onslaught of electric media, namely computers and the Internet. We must continue to analyze this technology with the realization that the medium is the message, or else we will never fully understand our culture or the effect of technology on it and on our lives.
The attitude of entitlement that many internet users exhibit with regard to internet piracy must stop. The movie industry will not suffer the pillaging that has been inflicted on the music industry by casual pirates. New efforts to prevent piracy are currently being undertaken and they include research to new technologies to prevent piracy and copying, strengthening laws to inflict harsher penalties for copyright infringement, and educating the public about why copyright protection is imperative to economic growth and the negative effects that file-sharing has on the American consumer.
Both printed media and electronic media are in a constant state comparison, both competing to super pass each other. Both of the medium have their own unique features through their advantage, disadvantages and popularity. This basic point of the comparison.
Everyday we encounter the media in some form. It could be waking up to the sound of the radio, or passing billboards in the streets or simply just watching television. They are a lot of different forms of media, for example, verbal or written media, visual media and aural media. Examples of media would include newspapers, magazines, film, radio, television, billboard advertisements as well as the internet. Media studies came about because of the developments in mass communication and it provokes the generation of exigent questions about what we think we know as well how we came about knowing it. There are always changes in the media and the term “media” refers to the many ways of physically forming meanings as well and carrying them. The term “media studies” on the other hand, means different courses priorities different media; different theories and different learning outcomes (Bazalgette, 2000).
There are a lot of people who download music and movies without paying. The main reason that this is such a big issue is because piracy substitutes for a legitimate transaction; for example, someone who would have originally bought a DVD of the movie Young Guns but instead downloads it for free on The Pirate Bay. In this case, the person pirating the movie or song would never have bought it. This happens frequently if the “pirate” lives in a relatively poor country, like China, and is simply unable to afford to pay for the films and music he or she downloa...
The first reason why downloading and uploading copyrighted materials from the Internet should be legal is that downloading copyrighted materials positively affects the economy. The European Commission Joint Research Center reported that the profits of music companies would be 2% lower if uploading and downloading copyrighted materials were banned. However, music companies are able to acquire more profits despite illegal downloading because many people tend to purchase CDs or DVDs after watching or listening to copyrighted materials for free. Moreover, the research showed that people who download music illegally spent more money to buy music than people who did not download illegally. In addition, research conducted by the Swiss government informed that one-third of Swiss people downloaded copyrighted materials from the Internet because personal use of copyrighted materials is legal in Switzerland. Even though there is a fact that many people can download copyrighted materials from the Internet legally in Switzerland, the amount of money that people spend to buy copyrighted materials is not f...
The U.S. economy is significantly affected by media piracy more than any other country in the world. According to Siwek (2007), the U.S. holds a major stake in the media production industry because of the comparatively higher concentration of media production firms in the country. The economi...
The influence of the electronic devices, multimedia and computers are the things that dealt with our daily life. Especially the internet that is now giving more importance to each and every one, by giving the newest outstanding media that surely will give the outmost future ahead of us. (Temmel)
“How long you figure before we save up and get the fourth wall torn out and the fourth wall-TV installed?" If I think of the future of media I remember this quotation from Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451”. Will television remain an important part of mass media or will the Internet kill it? What role are mobile devices going to play and what about movies in 2020?
Newspapers have been around since the early 18th century, gaining prominence after 1790 during the colonial era. Magazines followed right behind newspapers and gained popularity as well, television followed last, booming with popularity in the 1960’s. Television is still the most often used source for news and other information such as the weather. But new forms of mass media are on the rise, such as channels, blogs and podcasts, which have been around since the early 2000’s but are now picking up momentum and gaining prominence as a news source. There are similarities as well as differences between the old media and the new media, and while the new media is more modern and accessible it does not have to push old media out of the picture, the two can be combined for the benefit of the consumers and
