“Leadership is a potent combination of strategy and character.” Evidently, Norman Schwarzkopf adopts the belief that one’s character directly influences the motive and course of action that an individual is to pursue. Rather, a leader who holds possession of good character generally takes an approach that enables a whole society to benefit, while an individual of dishonorable character makes decisions to solely improve their own situation. In the novel, Lord of the Flies, William Golding introduces two central characters who adhere to diverse leadership qualities, of which mirror the traits and tactics of influential leaders in history. Golding’s allegorical novel reveals how leaders, despite their age gaps, can be similar based upon how the circumstances and environmental conditions enveloping them influences their train of thought. The protagonist, Ralph, possesses a rational strategic insight, acquires a great morale, and is relentlessly compassionate; these qualities can be seen within the conductions of Sir Winston Churchill. Jack, the antagonist, is incredibly power hungry, impetuous, and engages in manipulative techniques, which mirrors the inner workings of Joseph Stalin.
The work of Sir Winston Churchill reveals how he is an extremely admirable leader, particularly on the basis of his determined and relentless spirit. Churchill is well known for his ability to inspire and bring hope to individuals, even in the most ominous circumstances. To elucidate, Churchill declares, “We shall not flag nor fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France and on the seas and oceans; we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air. We shall defend our island whatever the cost may be; we shall ...

He showed real beneficial points of production which I agreed how production could change the population especially changing the variety of working, but I criticized on the disadvantages of mass production he mentioned. This is because one company could offer more money to their people which having money is the aim of most of us, so when a place offer money, it has more beneficial rather than disadvantages. However, Churchill described the main differences of WWI and previous wars which were significant points because it is true that a lot of damages were caused in WWI that destroyed most people’s lives, and the cause of the wars is not indicated in any places. Also, it told the way of how Generals and armies are not heroes which I precisely disagree his point because people fight for their families and protect them from enemies. That’s why they need to fight and are seen as heroes but not heroes of their country, heroes of their family. In addition, he also described future wars which WWI had recently ended in his time, but he predicted to have another war which will be much cruel. It was true because WWII happened and caused more damages to the world; many women and children died with it. This was an extraordinary prediction because how someone can predict the future and become reality? However, as he mentioned peace was in people’s heart and was more important than having wars as

In the novel, The Lord of the Flies, leadership is one of the main important qualities. If I had to choose between Jack and Ralph to follow in the story, I would choose Ralph. Although he ended up struggling near the end of the story, I still found him to be a good leader.
Golding establishes the power and potential of government and its vulnerability to outside affairs. In “Lord of the Flies,” each of the older boys strive for power and authority. Their views and beliefs are all dissimilar, resulting in each boys to possess different elucidation on how the island should function. These representations of government are apparent in Ralph, Jack, and Piggy, and prompt the social unrest and inability to compensate for their own needs. The way in which a leader governs determines the path that he/she sets upon his
An individual by the name of Donald McGannon once said, “Leadership is an action, not a position.” In order for a leader to know what needs to be achieved and be able to relentlessly drive to complete it, they must exhibit different qualities and abilities that will be beneficial and vital to their success. This is important in view of the fact that it prompts and inspires others to be able to follow in their example. In Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, after a group of boys crash onto a deserted island, an example of this is seen through Ralph, who best exhibits good leadership qualities that will help bring the boys to safety and rescue. This is especially in comparison to the power-hungry Jack Merridew. The three main leadership qualities
Adolf Hitler was born in 1889 on the border between Austria and Germany. His father, Alois Schickelgruber Hitler, was a customs official and his mother, Klara Poelzl, a peasant girl. As a child, Hitler appeared to posses no striking qualities and indeed lived quite an unremarkable life until his moving to Munich in 1913. The life of Joseph Stalin begun not too dissimilarly, born in the Russian province of Georgia, in 1879 unto his mother Yekaterina, and her husband Vissarion Djugashvili, his childhood too, was difficult and at the age of nine he was enrolled in the elementary clerical school in Gori.
Many a successful wordsmith has mastered voice, Winston Churchill included. He start off his speech in a jovial way, after all, summertime has hit Britain. But Winston mainly concerns himself with the prospect of Germany hitting England, and so, as he delves deeper into his speech, his voice becomes less jovial and more ironic and grave. In his last three paragraphs, he speaks as though with a straight face, getting into the nutshell of the current events. “If Herr Hitler does not make war, there will be no war. No one else is going to make war. Britain and France are determined to shed no blood except in self-defense or in defense of their Allies…we must strive to frame some system of human relations in the future which will bring to an end this prolonged hideous uncertainty.” (Churchill, Paragraph 9; 11) So there: he has laid down the gauntlet for America. The US must come to the aid of their Allies, or only more uncertainty will abound. Using voice, a most powerful weapon, Winston Churchill successfully, eventually, helped cajole America into World War
As the cold hand of death swept over the remnants of France, British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, orated on the imminent battle that would rage over his homeland and the foreboding struggle for survival that was now facing Britain:
There are many aspects that determine how humans behave around one another. This is shown throughout William Golding’s novel, Lord of the Flies. This book is about a group of British boys that are stranded on an island without any adults due to a plane crash. At first, all goes well; the boys cooperate in attempting to maintain the fire signal, gather food and making shelters. However, human nature takes over and their democracy that they have created fails. This leads to the majority of the boys becoming complete savages when the evil within them takes over. Different qualities help determine whether a person is a good or a bad leader. Although, Piggy and Jack have some leadership qualities, Ralph is the best leader.
William Golding’s 1954 novel, Lord of the Flies, explores and analyzes human nature. The novel follows a group of boys stranded on an island without any adult supervision after a plane crash. In the beginning, the boys elect another boy, Ralph, as chief. Ralph is at odds with another boy named Jack, who leads the designated hunters among them. The boys gradually descend from civility to savagery. Jack is leading some boys into violent savagery, leaving Ralph trying to salvage the notion of a functioning civilization. By the end of the novel, Jack leads most of the boys in their savage nature and leaves Ralph in danger. Throughout the novel, Golding brings the themes of the abuse of power, the fear of the unknown, and the need for civilization to the surface.
Sir Winston Churchill’s speech, ‘We Shall Fight on the Beaches’ was a wonderful piece of moving rhetoric. The diction that Churchill uses to deliver his message is not so advanced that one cannot understand him easily, but still manages to portray a sense of Churchill’s deeply intellectual status without being condescending. It is a very inspirational piece, a moving speech, and a powerful call to action aimed to uplift the downtrodden population of Britain at the time. Churchill responded to the need for inspiration with his now-famous speech. His use of rhetoric not only inspired Britain, but was a powerful tool that brought about a final victory over the Nazis.
In today’s modern society, a leader must contain capabilities that include decisive decision making that benefit the rest of society. In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, the leaders, Jack and Ralph, make decisions that impair the well being of the boys on the island. When Jack and Ralph place the personal need of being in control above the needs of the boys, chaos ensues on the island. Also, When Jack and Ralph both use fear as a tool to accomplish their personal goals that they placed above the needs of the boys, order on the island broke down. Lastly, when Jack and Ralph placed their personal needs of not co-operating with one another, order on the island broke down. In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, when leaders place their personal needs above the needs of society, order on the island breaks down.
Leadership is something that stands out in people; the ability to show courage, initiative, responsibility, and determination. Within a group, people tend to look for an individual with these traits to follow. The main protagonist in William Golding’s novel, Lord of the Flies, Ralph who was immediately elected leader by a group of schoolboys who were stranded on the uninhabited island due to a plane crash, strives to recreate a civilized society to which he was accustomed to previously and apply it to the group of adolescents that accompany him. The qualities of leadership Ralph possess deemed him to be a fitted leader as they are demonstrated throughout the course of the novel by keeping order among the group, appearing confident in his leadership
In the book Lord of the Flies by William Golding, there are many leadership traits shown by two of the main characters, Jack and Ralph. Although they both have a role as some type of leader, they are not the same and have very different leadership views and styles. Ralph wants to do everything he can so that they can survive on the island, but Jack goes crazy and becomes a savage with a thirst for blood.
Failure of individual ethics is firmly portrayed in the novel where the author says “The theme is an attempt to trace the defects of society back to the defects of human nature. The moral is that, the shape of society must depend on the ethical nature of the individual and not on any political system however apparently logical and respectable.” The predominant theme of “Lord of the Flies” is civilization vs savagery. Throughout the novel Golding argues that people are essentially savage, attracted towards violence, however humans have been able to create civilizations as the years passed by. The clash between Ralph and Jack represents civilizations vs savagery. This is expressed through the boys’ attitude towards authority, where Ralph uses his authority to create rules, safeguard the group and implement the moral and ethical values, while Jack wants to satisfy his desires through power. When Jack creates his own tribe, he wants all the boys to not only help him but worship him. This is similar to how Hitler was during WW2, his desire for power made him think that he is the most superior and he went to an extent of killing the Jews without any valid reason claiming that they are not the right race. This suggests that Golding has been able bring out Hitler through Jacks actions. When Jack doesn’t identify the importance of society and disobeys Ralph’s authority, his true character emerges. Through this Golding brings out that savagery is an unavoidable fact of humans, civilization can help alleviate its growth. The Lord of the Flies is an annals of civilization leading to savagery in human nature, the boys who are shaped by the civilized British society become savages through apprehension, superstition and
