Introduction
The past decade has seen the rapid change on sanitary products with the emphasis on water conservation and user comfort. Toilets, as one of the basic necessities, have also experience a revolutionary change from squatting style to sitting ones. However, a major health problem is the unsanitary toilet seat which cannot be sterilized immediately after every use. Provided with unpleasant splash on the toilet seat, users will have unsatisfied experience and be exposed to many infectious diseases. So far, few solutions, whose costs are relatively high, are only implemented in upscale office buildings and hotels. Therefore, one important motivation driving design efforts is to invent affordable self-cleaning products. This report describes an innovation on toilet seat named ‘mechanical toilet sanitizer’ by applying an automatic water flushing mechanism to it. Review on the existing solutions will first be provided, followed by a detailed description. Feasibility and benefits of this project will then be discussed.
Background and literature review
Currently there are two solutions on cleaning the toilet seat, namely seat covering method and circular cleaning method.
The seat covering method applies a one-off seat cover on the seat ring, which will automatically be deposed and renewed after every use [1]. The cleaning cover is usually a plastic membrane or fabric. This method inherently ensures qualified sanitation degree because it efficiently blocks human excreta from users. In addition, its daily maintenance procedure is simple and the mechanism presents stability. However, with high user flow, the expense of the cover cloth will soar. More importantly, numerous solid wastes formed from the deposed seat cover are hard t...

The working function is with the additional water flushing mechanism on the toilet seat ring, users will have a pleasant experience when sitting on a sterile toilet. With simplified design and stable operation, the sanitizer minimizes the cost and the entire product is eco-friendly as well as energy efficient.

Waste management is an especially challenging issue of today’s society especially considering the heavy metals and biomedical waste produced within the profession (Muhameddagic, Muhamedagic and Masic, 2009). Dental practices also create large quantities of waste cotton, latex, plastic, glass as well as various other materials which all have the potential to be contaminated with body fluids (Sudhakar & Chandrashekar,
Amidst the school kids and the naked bum, there is a toilet. The free-standing, self-cleaning, public restroom installed by JCDecaux Company only costs a quarter. If you can stomach the sight of the remnants of human excrement and the pungent odor of fecal matter mixed with urine, stale cigarettes, and vomit, this toilet can prove to be extremely convenient. For those who drank too much Starbucks on their way to work or those with a crying four year-old, a public restroom amongst all the “customer only” signs seems like a reasonable solution. With a twenty minute limit, there is adequate time to relieve your bowels, seek shelter from the rain, shoot up ...
“Guidelines for Infection Control” inform us that Dental Assistants should clean floors regularly as well as spills to minimize contamination in the office. Every cubicle in the office should have water and detergent at all times to clean after every use. The entire operatory must be adequately sprayed with CaviCide and wiped with CaviWipes or similar brands. According to CDC, Dental Assistants must also wipe under barriers, and patient chairs should be wiped from head to toe regardless of how expensive the leather is. By the end of the day Dental Assistants are to run suction cleaner or replace if necessary the operatory and saliva ejector tubing’s. It is important as a Dental Assistant to observe any types of dirtiness throughout the dental clinic to help and maintain a healthy and clean
The focus of health care is and has always been, practicing good hygiene, living a healthy lifestyle, and having a positive attitude reduces the chance of getting ill. Although there is not much prevention we can take for some of the diseases but we can certainly practice good hand hygiene to prevent infection and its ill effects. Research proves that hand washing is surely the most easy and effective way to prevent infection in health care. The question for this research: Is Hand washing an effective way to prevent infection in health care? It led to the conclusion that due to the high acuity, high patient: staff ratio, and lack of re evaluation certain units in the health care facilities cannot adhere to correct hand washing guidelines. Hand hygiene compliance was measured through direct observation in 59% of facilities and alcohol-based hand rub consumption was regularly monitored in 53%. Posters featuring hand hygiene indications and technique were displayed in the vast majority of facilities.

In 1874 William Blackstone, a Bluffton, Indiana merchant and manufacturer of corn planters, built a birthday present for his wife. It was a machine that removed and washed away dirt from clothes. It consisted of a wooden tub in which there was a flat piece of wood containing six small wooden pegs. The inner mechanism looked something like a small milking stool. It was moved back and forth by means of a handle and an arrangement of gears. Dirty clothes were snagged on the wooden pegs an...

Abstract. Innovation is a key to many ills. India is plagued by sanitation woes backed by lack of hygiene. Paucity of space in slums prohibits construction of toilets in homes. Absence of toilets leads to open defecation and it becomes a behavioral issue and sanitation drive by Sulabh International has not been sufficient. Innovative method of defecation has to be evolved which would not only be hygienic but also cost effective, Peepoo a bio degradable toilet disposal can be a cure to many sanitation woes. It has been successful in developing countries like Kenya, Nigeria and Bangladesh. It should be tried in India to give an impetus to the swachh Bharat mission
It is funny how we human beings never take a second to think about or appreciate the history and aspects of items that we use on a daily basis. An example of such items is a toilet. A toilet is a sanitation structure or system used for the disposal of feces and human urine. Toilets are usually found in a small room known as the lavatory, washroom, or toilet. Modern toilets, especially those in urban areas, comprise of a seat hinged on a bowl connected to an exhaust pipe via which the feces and urine are disposed off (CBC 1). This paper discusses various interesting facts about toilets such as history on invention and technological advancement in toilet making as well as the impact that toilets have had on the society. In addition, it sheds light on the inventions that made it possible to invent toilets.
