The Importance of Teamwork, Continuous Top management Support and Training in bringing about TQM
The purpose of this study by Parumasur and Govender (2013) to highlight the importance of Total Quality Management (TQM) in today’s competitive business. The study uses pre-coded data collected from a sample of 202 managers selected randomly to avoid any biased conclusions. According to Parumasur and Govender (2013), TQM uses innovative techniques to structure teams that allow optimal functionality and ensures utilization of their creativity in operational improvements. TQM allows teams to grow and develop mainly through the steps of organizing, establishing interdependence, producing, and finally evaluating. Moreover, organizations at different stages of growth should utilize multiple types of teams to better match the current TQM level.
Continuous top management support plays a critical role in TQM application. TQM initiatives focus on the roles of managers in guiding subordinates at a close level, incorporating techniques to ensure individual development, and to ensure consistency with the policies and guidelines of the organization. Undoubtedly, this role is very critical and must selectively address each situation and location according to their needs and level of development. Lastly, continuous training and learning is the most rewarding investment in the journey to quality excellence. Unlike traditional organizations, TQM requires education, training and career development; which will lead to better knowledge, skills, performance, and most importantly better coordination.

...needs and help facing various difficulties. However, no magical recipe is proven successful. Six sigma, for example, can help lower risk-taking while benchmarking enhance execution of procedures to ensure excellence. At the same time, TQM can be very helpful in structuring the workforce starting by employees and up to the highest leadership.
