Consequences of these actions could lead to federal investigations which in turn will cost the city and its tax payers millions of dollars. The actions of the Mayor did not represent the greater good for anyone, as the benefit will be short term for all. The gifts will eventually discontinue once allegations and investigations begin to surface. The contractors will eventually lose their contract, which could result in current employees losing their jobs. The financial consequence to the corruption of the Mayor will leave a lasting effect on that community. For example, the city corrupt contractors usually do not produce the end result as promised, leaving the residents with the feeling of distrust and ineffective leadership by the government.
When New York City had a new leftist mayor, many foreshadowed there would be a significant rise in crime spanning over a few years. The new mayor, Bill de Blasio, was to blame. De Blasio wanted to reform city measure, but he went about it in a different way. De Blasio talked and listen more to ex-cons on this matter, putting their options and advice to the forefront of his mind. Many of them rallied for reducing police stratagems to reduce New York City’s crime rates. It was believed that de Blasio agreed with this idea because of his thoughts on some of the tactics New York City’s police officers used. De Blasio fought against “Stop and Frisk”, because of how they unjustly discriminated against young, African American males and put their safety at risk.
In the middle of the nineteenth century, several factors contributed to the growth and expansion of cities in the United States. The 1850s saw a fantastic peak in the immigration of Europeans to America, and they quickly flocked to cities where they could form communities and hopefully find work1. The rushing industrialization of the entire country also helped to rapidly convert America from a primarily agrarian nation to an urban society.

There has been several indicents that have taken place in Baltimore, Maryland that required major attention by the police, but one main event that drew the attention of the Baltimore Police Department was dealing with Sam and Earl Veney. Sam and Earl Veney robbed a liquor store in December 1964. The two black men also shot two police officers, killing one. They were caught and convicted. But the police manhunt in Baltimore for the Veney brothers became almost as infamous as their crimes. Without warrants, police broke into scores of homes in black neighborhoods. Some critics protested that the raids were a widespread violation of civil liberties. Federal courts and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People had to get involved.
Corruption is an individual and institutional process where there is a gain by a public official from a briber and in return receives a service. Between the gain and the service, there is an improper connection, (Thompson p.28). The two major categories of bribery is individual and institutional corruption. Receiving personal goods for the pursuit of one’s own benefit is personal fraud. An example of individual distortion is the financial scandal involving David Durenberger. Organizational corruption involves “receiving goods that are useable primarily in the political process and are necessary for doing a job or are essential by-products of doing it,” (Thompson p.30). An instance of institutional fraud is the Keating Five case. There are also times where there is a mixture of both individual and organizational corruption in a scandal. An example of this diverse combination is James C. Wright Jr. actions while he was the Speaker of the House.
In January of 1990, Washington, DC, the seat of the federal government of the United States was turned upside down by scandal. While the headlines were filled with the efforts of the Bush Administration to crack down on drugs, the District's Mayor and symbol of black power against a nearly all white backdrop of authority was caught on videotape buying and than smoking crack cocaine with an exotic dancer two days before he was expected to announce an unprecedented fourth campaign for mayor. In this essay I will explain in detail federal indictments of Los Angeles County Sheriff officers for mistreatment of jail inmates and visitors. On Friday morning, October 2, 2015, Two teens invaded a home in Des Moines around 4:30 am. People living in the home say someone busted down the front door and ransacked the home. One person received minor injuries. The Des Moines police officers took two males into custody, one of them is 17 years old. They’re still looking for one more person in connection with the incident (WHO-HD). This invasion was able to happen due to the lack of curfew law in the city of Des Moines. Although, curfews are applied in several Iowa cities including Bettendorf, Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Iowa City, Sioux City, Waterloo, and Indianola. Likewise, the city of Des Moines should apply the curfew law from 10 pm to 5 am for teenagers who are 17 years old and under.

The occupational subculture of policing is a major factor in both creating police corruption, by initiating officers into corrupt activities, and sustaining it, by covering up corrupt activities by other officers. Police corruption is a complex phenomenon, which does not readily submit to simple analysis. It is a problem that has and will continue to affect us all, whether we are civilians or law enforcement officers. Since its beginnings, many aspects of policing have changed; however, one aspect that has remained relatively unchanged is the existence of corruption. Ruskin asserts that it does not matter what you think, know, or believe; the only way to make an impact on the world is to act. In the end, it is action that makes a difference, and it is action that the world will remember.
In conclusion, in failing to pass both Kantian and consequentialist formulations, bribery is morally wrong. Pragmatically, long term solutions sanctioning bribery are likely to result in public officials changing their decision making in the absence of bribery, and economic models and research on the whole predicts that the results will be costly in terms of economic efficiency, political legitimacy, and equality.
