I believe in what Albert Einstein concerned, “I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots.” Modern technology is used in everywhere, and every day we are influenced by it. We conveniently use computers or smart phones to find out information that we want to know. However, it does not give us only information that we need, but it also gives us lots of subconscious influences by using the mass media. For instance, when I open up a web site, I can easily find commercial advertisements on the side of the web pages or in the middle of the articles. Technology is no longer the tools for our convenient only, but also it becomes a resource of mass media.
Nowadays it is easy to spot people who are exposed by mass media in form of social networking. For example, restaurants are used to be the places where people are gathered with friends and families to chat, but recently people sit around the table together but are not interact to each other. People are busy to check and chat through their social network such as Facebook and Twitter. Mass media is continuously evolving and developing every second. It has been developed much that it tries to brainwash the audiences. Its use of repetitive melody and funny lyrics are one of the strategies they use. Adil describes, “Commercial Business Uses of Music in Advertising• Business uses of music in advertising date back to the earliest days of broadcast media. In the 1920s and 1930s, marketers like Procter and Gamble pioneered the concept of linking brand names to distinctive musical and dramatic themes” (Yousuf Adil).
