Trough out the history of the human race women have been treated as an object rather than a human being. In the past centuries women weren’t send to school and therefore the only education they received was the one they got at home. They were taught to always look pretty and behave like a lady. They didn’t have any rights at all. If they were rich the money that was “theirs’ wasn’t even theirs in fact it was their husband’s money. If she was a widow the money would actually go to the next man in the family. These times were hard for women because on top of not having any rights, be viewed as an object for men, and not having any freedom they were judged harshly. The movie “Tom Jones” and Mary Wollstonecraft’s “A Vindication of the Rights of Woman” portrait the society women lived in the eighteen century. Women were criticized harshly while man weren’t criticized at all. For example in the movie when Tom sleeps with a girl and Sophie discovers it she can’t say anything even though she is hurt.
