In order to be a successful member of an academic community, it is my personal belief that one must have acquired both the skill of time management and the characteristic of perseverance from their past educational experiences. It is my personal belief that, in my four years at Marvin Ridge High School, I not only acquired these traits but rather learned how to use them effectively. The employment of my time management skills allowed for me to take on the heavy workload of several Advanced Placement classes in my senior year while also granting me to opportunity to take part in many extracurricular activities such as managing the Marvin Ridge Wrestling Team, becoming a member of the Science National Honors Society, and working as a volunteer …show more content…
It is because of the aforementioned statements that I believe the application of my time management skills in college will allow me to successfully contribute not only to the academic environment of East Carolina University but the overall social climate of the campus as well. However, one trait that is arguably more important to academic success than time management is perseverance. Perseverance and curiosity were key to my academic success in high school and I plan to carry these traits that I have attained, along with many others, to East Carolina University as I continue my academic career. Both of the aforementioned traits allowed for me to flourish in the classroom as I would challenge myself to fully understand and comprehend difficult problems. When faced with a problem that truly challenged me, I would break down the question step by step and work on it until I could say that I understood what to do on a fundamental level. This perseverance and desire to understand what previously perplexed me is the reason that I believe I performed so well in my Advanced Placement
Growing up, my parents never expected perfection but expected that I try to accomplish my best. The effort I’ve put forth in learning has been reflected in my grades throughout my high school career. I’ve entered myself in vigorous course work such as AP Government and AP English to become well prepared for my college career, all while maintaining a 4.4 grade point average this year. Not only do I engage in AP classes, but up until this year I had no study halls. I wanted my day to be packed full of interesting classes that I would enjoy learning about. My grades and choice of classes prove the effort that I put forth in my learning. Working hard now can only pay off in the future. Learning now creates a well-rounded human being. Working to learn is why I am so dedicated to my studies now.

Every day I remember a phrase my mother tells me, “Academics come first.” I have taken this advice to heart by not only putting them first, but also by choosing to pursue an extremely rigorous academic program. Entering high school was a very drastic change for me, I knew that I chose very rigorous courses by participating in the pre-IB program. However, I was able to adapt to the workload very well. I quickly learned time-management skills that I had not needed in middle school. Due to my excellent time-management skills, I am able to participate in extracurricular activities that I enjoy being a part of while being able to handle the demands of my challenging academic schedule. Another key to my success is my organizational skills. Having these two strong aspects together, I always turn my assignments in on time, and I am very well prepared for tests and quizzes. Also crucial to my success is my drive to regularly opt for the most challenging classes. For example, in ninth grade, I took macroeconomics for a quarter as
Time management is about using one’s time to work productively. Education is about learning and one learns something new everyday. Putting time and effort in learning improves the way one’s educational
In addition, I was able to improve my time management skills. As an undergraduate, I held a full time job, and I also took care of my family. However, my responsibilities didn’t hinder me from being an outstanding student and graduating with honors. I can assure you that these qualities will move along with me as I pursue my master’s degree.
Putting as much time as I possibly can into my work will allow me to achieve the objective of the assignment. Managing my time efficiently will allow me to put as much time as I need into my academics as well as personal time. Anytime during the semester I can adjust the amount of time I need to study or time I need to do assignment. For example, when approaching finals week, I can focus on my more difficult classes to better prepare myself for the exam and for academic success.I have put my personal care second to my academics because my success in Stanislaus State is my priority The goals I have set for myself to be academically successful are achievable because the only thing that is necessary to a accomplish them is my time and
Not many students know effective ways to make use of their time. Some ways that you can control your time management is to avoid time traps. Time traps are an unproductive activity that is time consuming; such as social media. You do not want to procrastinate on any work. Especially being an athlete, you have no spare time to be procrastinating. In a study conducted, they showed us how busy athletes’ schedules are. They barely have time to do other activities that do not involve school work or practicing (Macquet, A.C., Skalej, V, 2015). Time management is a big reason why athletes stop doing sports and focus only on school. Consequently, they become stressed with so much school work and training, that they do not know how to handle it. According to a study, freshman student-athletes have emotional problems dealing with the situation and don’t seek out and just stop. Whereas a junior or senior just tried to work it out on their own and out up with it. Although, the students think the course is pointless, they will appreciate it in the long
I write this clear and concise reflection to identify and evaluate an academic problem that I feel is negatively impacting my studies which is time management; otherwise, I find lot of difficulty to manage my time.
Coming into high school, I had this mentality of strictly focusing on academics and kept the goal of getting valedictorian in the back of my mind. Although I’ve always valued my family, friends, and hobbies, in the past my academic life seemed to take up the majority of my efforts and time. Looking back at my freshmen and sophomore years, I’ve come to understand that I didn’t know how to balance my time wisely.
There are several qualities to have to be successful in college. These qualities can range from attending class to going above and beyond what’s expected. Success comes from the journey taken or the path chosen. Success also comes from being prepared. As a student, I must step up to the challenge and find the path to success along the way. Several ways I define success is to uphold academic integrity, have the ability to prioritize, and to motivate myself to stay on top of what needs to be accomplished.
This calls a need for people especially students in college to warm up to the fact that if they are unable to manage their time appropriately while in school it is apparent that as they transition into their working life they will demonstrate the same effects still while on the job.
As an adult student, it is not easy to manage the demands of work; spouse and children; and the need to set aside time to read, research, write, and complete specified assignments. The biggest complaint conveyed by adult students is that they simply don’t have enough time. The fact is time management is crucial so you don’t lose sight of your goals. Students’ time is a limited resource. Like other limited resources, time can be more or less effectively managed (Britton, 1991, p.405). It is hard to address my perspective of my own procrastination and my ability to learn. Now that I’m older and looking at the facts of where I am now in life, I should be a lot further in my college goals. Many young adults wish someone sat them down early in life and guided them in a wiser direction. A college degree is essential in the career world.
Having great time management is a technique that one has to learn to use if one wants to be successful in life. One had to realize that it was time to stop playing and get serious about one's grades. One did not want to end up out of the program that one was in. alos one did not want to make bad impression on one’s self to colleges. Colleges look at one’s transcript from the time one gets in highschool til’ the time one graduates. One did not colleges to not accept one. One’s grades depend one’s future. That future can either be good or god. One needs to chose if one wants a wonderful future or a terrible
We all need to "Make time, save time, spend time." Time can move pretty quickly as you look back on your life, or pretty slowly depending on which class you are in third period as you watch those bright red numbers change so slowly it seems as if the whole world has stopped turning. I believe that this adage of making time, saving time and spending time is important to us now as we venture forth on this crazy adventure called "life after high school."
(Claessens, Brigitte J.C.2004). adds that time “cannot be managed, because time is an invariable factor. Only the way a person deals with time can be”. Nevertheless, time management has become increasingly essential to businesses and organizations. This is especially true over the last two decades, as a result of expanding global competition and increased demands for the immediate availability of products and services. Given the increased pace of everyday life, people increasingly need to be more organized. Efficient time management practices support business students in acquiring key skills that will assist them both in their educatio...
