On January 15, 1929, Alberta Williams King gave birth to Martin Luther King Jr. in Atlanta,
Georgia. Martin was a smart student, and skipped both ninth and eleventh grade at Booker T. Washington High school. Martin then attended Morehouse College, at the young age of 15. Martin went about his life becoming a valedictorian, earning his degree in sociology, marrying Coretta Scott in 1953 and even earning his P.H.D.; all at the age of 25. Yet Martin still had a bigger calling for his country. The Montgomery Bus Boycott lasted 328 days. On the evening of December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks a 42 year old woman-hopped on the Cleveland Avenue Bus to head home from a long day at work. The bus driver saw several white men standing up, and commanded Rosa Parks and a considerable amount of other African Americans to give up their seats. The other African Americans gave up their seats right away, but not Rosa. The bus driver told her again to get up out of her seat, she refused and was arrested. After a 30 minute trial, she was found guilty and fined $10, and a $4 court fee. This is what started the 382 day Montgomery Bus Boycott, a historic moment in history, and Martin Luther King Jr.'s first involvement in the Civil Rights Movement. It was at the Washington March, that Martin also gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech. The speech talked about how he believed that one day everyone could be united. This speech is what changed history and kept America moving forward, giving African Americans new rights. "I Have a Dream" won Martin his Nobel Peace prize and created the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, making the federal government to enforce desegregation of public accommodations, and outlawing discrimination. This was a big moment in Martin Luther King Jr.'s life, and Is what he is remembered
