Some were good some were bad. He made some mistakes and bad choices, but in the whole, he helped our country excel and flourish. One of the things Clinton is most famous for, but not the proudest of, is his affairs. The issue of Clinton having an affair with Monica Lewinsky is purely personal. It should have been discussed within his family and in his family alone.
Andrew Jackson: Not a Top Influencer Many historians love Andrew Jackson, putting him on a high pedestal. He did grow up in poverty, making an immense switch and becoming a well known and powerful lawyer and young politician. Now I can’t argue that he played a major role during his time; he was a leading figure on many issues such as when war decided to come between Britain and the United States. However, many historians don’t step back and truly look at what he did or what his motives were. He was a highly popular president, but a “very dangerous man”, according to Thomas Jefferson; because of this he should not be known as one of the top influential people in America.
Malcolm was known for his boldness, he is often tagged with the quote “To do whatever it takes”(Robert Shetterly/Americans Who Tell The Truth) Meaning that he would do whatever it took to be considered equal. This usually led to less peaceful acts of protesting, plus he was more interested in spreading “black pride”. He was assassinated on February 21, 1965. Both Martin and Malcolm were considered great leaders by people. Jefferson’s sacrifice for the black community is heroic, because he has no emotional connection to the majority of them. However, he realizes that his death has power to unleash hope; a great force with unstoppable momentum.By discarding the label of a ‘hog’ thrust on him by a white lawyer, he can give people hope. Jefferson is the epitome of a hero, for the harmonic blend of his Unfortunately, Victor Frankenstein is the exact opposite. He must look after the creature in whatever capacity he can; he unknowingly accepted that responsibility the moment he began his foray into galvanism.
His story may seem very inspiring to the common people, making him relatable. Both men match the definition of a “tragic hero” so far. They were both belove... ... middle of paper ... ... he wasn’t so power hungry after being elected the leader, he would have been remembered for the things helping the german’s rather than all the evil deeds he committed such as killing millions of jews, starting a war, and costing german soldiers their lives. You could at least feel a little pity for him, he did countless things to better german’s lives, but his other actions would eventually lead him to his downfall making him a tragic hero in my opinion. Macbeth and Hitler both match the characteristics of a tragic hero in my opinion.
Among these people are the three that I mentioned earlier; George Washington, John F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr. George Washington, a founding father and praised by the whole Nation, owned slaves. John F. Kennedy, a US President, patronized by everybody was not flawless. He had an affair with Marilyn Monroe while being married to Jacqueline Kennedy. Similarly, Martin Luther King Jr. seen as the leader of the Civil Rights movement, cheated on his wife with another women. The crimes they committed are extremely immoral but yet we still learn and idolize these men as some of the greatest of all times.
In the 1960s when this originally happened, Ali had more enemies as a result of his religious and social views and ideas than fans. Today we see that what he did may be considered heroic, but back when it actually occurred, Ali was seen as a nuisance to America. He was spreading word and influencing people to act against their own country in a time of war. Since Muhammad Ali’s retirement from boxing the course of time has faded criticism of Ali and left mostly just the positive parts of his life and career. As a society we’ve buried the controversial side of Ali’s existence in our minds and history simply remembers his greatness as an athlete.
Throughout all the great civil rights leaders, I personally believe that Martin Luther King was the greatest of them all. What king achieved during the little over a decade that he worked in civil rights was remarkable. "There are few men of whom it can be said their lives changed the world" from wikipedia. Using Mohanda Gandhi's philosophy of nonviolence King gained the power of many citizens respect which lead him in success in, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, Birmingham Protest March, and breaking the barrier to allow black people vote rights. After Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her seat to a white passenger, king wanted to end the humiliating treatment of blacks on city bus liners.
Dr. King’s devotion to such nonviolence was what caused the civil rights movement to be so successful. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s leadership, lack of fear of arrest, and pacifism all had a powerful positive impact on civil rights. His involvement with the MIA and SCLC reached a huge audience, and though it put his personal wellbeing at stake, his encouragement of nonviolent protest eventually led to the abolishment of racial discrimination in the US. His work continued through the 1960’s until his tragic assassination in 1968. Though his life was short, Dr. King has a far-reaching effect.
Although Dr. King loved the idea of a free nation, others hated him. Martin used compromise to solve his problems instead of conflict, and it led him far in his life. While using his compromise throughout his life, by the time of his death, cultural conflicts arose, but in the end, they compromised. In the present, people realize that Martin Luther King Jr. made a huge impact in our lives. Now, African-Americans and the black community have the same rights at others without conflict.
