During his young childhood, Marshall moved back and forth between his mothers home town of St. Joseph, MO and the Detroit area, where he was often beat up by bullies because he was always the new kid. Because of his frequent moving, Marshall didn’t make many friends. His only true companion was his uncle, Ronnie, who was the same age as Marshall. The two, big fans of rap music, which was quickly becoming popular, began rapping together. At age 12, Marshall was forced to grow up quickly when his uncle, who was a very troubled boy, committed suicide.

He had suffered a terrible loss of a family member and now kanye had also started family of his own. He had sung with other rappers who also have success with songs. Kanye also claims to be changing the face of hip hop/rap and he use to be a music producer. Kanye west was born on June 8th 1977 he had suffered family problems when he was a little guy his parents had gotten a divorce and had left with his mother Donda West to Chicago and his mom donda got a job to be a teacher at a university in Nanjing china they lived there for a year. Kanye west began his career in 1996 but before that he was mentored by a dj from Chicago.

He spent the majority of his youth living in various states before eventually settling down in the harsh streets of Detroit at the age of 12. At age nine, Em was first introduced to rap by his Uncle Ronni who played the Breakin’ soundtrack for him and immediately Em loved it. He began obsessively studying and lip-synching LL Cool J‘s and Ice T’s skilled and complex rhyme schemes and styles. At a young age Em found his niche now all he had to do was discover his voice.

Kanye West changed the gangster filled rap genre by releasing his positive, soulful debut album, changing the way rappers dress, and paving the way for a whole new style of introspective lyrics and soul-inspired rap production in the mainstream.
