Marketing Research Tools
As a team of six investigating how to overcome the four different research tools, many ideas will flow through to allow the reader to get the most out of what is being taught. The team wants for the reader to indulge themselves in a company who will compare and contrast the selected tools available. Team C will choose to show the reader that tool is the most applicable and which tool is the least applicable. With this to be read and evaluated the team asks the reader to self evaluate what he or she thinks should be done in this situation. After reading and applying this idea to the reader’s sense of understanding, how did the reader evaluate this to be so and how will the team of six strive to learn more to overcome difficulties and situations that could arise within.
Comparison of Research Tools
Team C has chosen primary research, qualitative research, quantitative research, and focus group as their research tools. Each of these tools has its own strengths and limitations. Primary research, such as surveys, will give Team C greater control while answering specific research questions. Additionally, it is also proprietary information. This means that Team C has ownership of the information it acquires with this tool. However, primary research is often time- consuming and costly.
By contrast, qualitative research, like historical research and ethnographic research, allows Team C deeply to examine the research questions. It also does not strictly define variables so it gives the Team an opportunity to assign values that would otherwise not be available. We must determine whether or not expanding Kudler Fine Foods into a foreign market, specifically Canada would be a prosperous venture or if the expansion would prove to be too costly and not well received. To this end, we must examine aspects such as Canadian culture and the need and want for a fine foods retailer in the chosen areas. We must determine exactly what type of fine foods to carry according to the wants of the populous. With diligent and thorough research, we will continue to come to a reliable conclusion about the topic at hand.

Kudler Fine Foods is a store unlike any in the grocery industry. Kudler Fine Foods represents a store that could possibly spark a new era within the grocery world. The owner of Kudler Fine Foods, Kathy Kudler, has watched her dream of owning and operating a grocery store that specializes in fine quality food grow within a short period of time. The success of Kudler Fine Foods can be attributed to the innovative ideas, effective leadership, and organizational structure. The overall mission of Kudler Fine Food's "is to provide our customers the finest in selected foodstuffs, wines, and related needs in an unparallel consumer environment. Our selections coupled with our experienced, helpful and knowledgeable staff, merge to offer each customer a delightful and pleasing shopping outing" (Apollo Group, 2003). Kudler has managed to maintain its mission statement by providing its customers with the best and as a result the company has flourished. "Kathy considers one of her key responsibilities to be that of identification of new gourmet items that can be offered in her stores (Apollo Group, 2003)." Therefore, Kathy is considering plans to contract with local growers of organic produce to yet obtain the best in quality products for her consumers and take her business to the next step. If Kathy makes the decision to contract with local growers then changes could be introduced into the company's overall structural organization. Each aspect of Kudler Fine Food's organizational structure from basic business process to the supply chain and quality control process will be affected by the formation of a contractual relationship with local organic growers.
To have these questions answered, our team has used various research methods. First was the survey method. With a sample size of 42

This paper will justify the importance of marketing research in the development of Kudler Fine Foods marketing strategy and tactics. It will also identify the areas where additional market research is needed and analyze the importance of competitive intelligence and analysis in regards to the development of Kudler Fine Foods marketing strategy and tactics.

It is important that researchers are knowledgeable of the qualitative research methodologies in order to select the most appropriate to investigate their problem of interest, and thereby selecting the most appropriate data collection methods that will aptly produce the richest data for analysis.
Qualitative and quantitative research methods take different approaches to gathering and analysing information. Whether it is a qualitative or quantitative study, the research study begins with a question or series of questions. Both use rigorously designed studies to get the most accurate, detailed and complete results. Qualitative studies common methods are interviews, surveys and observation. A qualitative study aims to provide a detailed description of the study results, often using pictures and written descriptions to describe what the research revealed. A qualitative study looks at the big picture, helping researchers to narrow in on points of interest that then can be followed up on in a quantitative study. While a quantitative study has a narrower focus, it attempts to provide a detailed explanation of the study focus, along with this using numbers and statistics. And the results from a quantitative study can reveal bigger questions that call for qualitative study. Or vice versa a qualitative study may reveal at analysis that a more focus and direct approach may be needed. With both methods analysis is a key part of any study whether qualitative or quantitative.
