Introduction: A synopsis on the issue Marketing is a very powerful tool. Unknown to many individuals, the influence marketing has on them is far more than mere visual and audio stimulation. It effects their perception of their surroundings and themselves. Marketing how the power to form our perception of life. A successful company understands this principle and harnesses the power of effective marketing.

The article that I choose to review is titled “Doritos Locos Tacos: The Best Marketed Product in Recent History?” Fast food chains such as McDonalds, Burger King and Taco Bell have of late been aggressively marketing their new products. In 1943 Abraham Maslow defined the five human needs and ranked them in importance. Taco Bell continues to be effective marketing its products to address the physiological and esteem need of its consumers (Gunelius, 2014). The story can be defined as the emotional connection that is made with a product or a brand. Taco Bell has created a story line that makes the consumer believe that their party will be enhanced by a Taco Bell product, in this case the Doritos Locos Tacos (Campbell, 2013). This strategy is vital because the ability to appear to the emotions of the consumer is the most effective method to develop perceived needs in the mind of the consumer. They are engraining in our minds that their products will improve our social lives and makes us happier. After researching this topic, I have been looking for an opportunity to visit Taco Bell!
Handling of marketing issue Based on what I have learned Taco Bell is handling this marketing issue appropriately. They are taking advantage of the present economy and using it to their advantage. They are aggressively marketings and competing with other food chain giants such McDonalds. They have taken important features from the competitors - breakfast menu items and value priced items and are using it to their advantage. The only issue that I have with their aggressive marketing is they are targeting McDonalds by mimicking them in their commercials. I believe that Taco Bell does not need to make jest of McDonalds in order to compete with them. There are a large group of people that will be turned away by such antics, myself included.
