Target Corporation Market Segments Target markets their products to a variety of market segments when speaking about their clothing lines. The top three segments are Age-Related Segments and Gender-Related Segments. Targets approach to development, marketing and advertisement is based on seasons, genders, age in the terms of wants and needs and styles while also staying true to their brand imagine. Target has positioned itself as one of the biggest retailers with a brand imagine that can connect to the consumers, and the ability to develop and deliver high end products that come at an affordable price. Target exploits this segment buy offering styles of cloths in a variety of colors, sizes while including different designs to relate to different ages. For example a person in their 70’s might like a color scheme of socks, but a younger person might want a more modern color, with designs. This allows Target to advertise, market and sell one clothing line but with different styles meeting the wants and needs of a segment that hold a large number of their consumers. Target marketing strategy is currently based off its brand imagine for their customers to “expect more, pay less”. This and the age related segment allows for target to remain firm with their image while also allowing them to be able to sell a single clothing line to all ages simply by changing the color. They continue to offer products that adhear to the organizations brand imagine while also adapting to the needs and wants of the consumers. However, Target is not achieving success in one part of their plan. Target is continuing to get consumer complaints on the quality of their clothing lines. Some comments are such as after one wash it looks like it they wear it for a month and others say their cloths rip within a couple uses. I personally experiences this issue with their shoe lines. The bottoms would tear within only a couple months, rather than if I got Nikes they last years. The argument could be made that you get what you paid for and that the low cost make this expectable, but Target should put more attention to identifying quality issues and figuring a way to adapt it to their lines without raising cost too high that it goes against the brand
