I use to think that being a leader had to do with how leaders control the situation or the movement of their organization. I consider myself very lucky to have been a part of the United States Marine Corps. I think growing up and even up right to the moment of entering boot camp, I assumed that the Marine Corps. was filled with amazing leadership and would teach me how to be a great leader. I am disappointed to say that it wasn’t the case at all. I feel like the military taught me how to manipulate individuals, instead of leading them. Most of the individuals that were put into the leadership roles were often more concerned about completing the mission big or small, at any cost. I am constantly worried that I will fallback on the military way of influencing followers. In my past I was a very rigid and abrasive Marine that was often put in the leadership role because my superiors knew that I would get the job done no matter what. It was not until the very last year of my military duty, when the light bulb turned on. What I started to notice was if I influenced others in a positive respectful way, the mission seemed to flow easier and the followers were happy. I want to know how she drives her followers to accomplish tasks effectively. I am also very curious about what she has gained from her challenges and failures. One of the reasons why I chose her for my leadership interview was on the basis that she has worked for different organizations. I want explore what type of leadership styles she had to use at AIG, MetLife and at her current position. For now I am going to assume that she had to approach each organization differently due to their unique cultures. It will also be very crucial to find out how she thinks followers should be lead and
