Marijuana is a dried out weed that mixes the leaves, stems and even the flower of cannabis, or the hemp plant, which is then taken into the body by either smoking or eating. Marijuana was invented in 2737 B.C in china where it was used as treatment for malaria and absent- mindedness; it then got to United Kingdom in Jamestown in 1611, which was then seen as a cash crop. Marijuana is seen to be one of the most dangerous and addictive drugs in the United Kingdom. The amount of young teenagers using cannabis in the United Kingdom is rapidly increasing and this could lead to the death of a lot of teenagers. This essay is mainly going to be emphasizing on the advantages and disadvantages of Cannabis amongst the Teenagers in the United Kingdom.
DISADVANTAGES
CAUSES
The disadvantages can be divided into causes and effects. Cannabis also known as “Marijuana”, “Weed” or “Pot”. It can be taken either by smoking it or it taking it in with food. The main ingredient in marijuana is (THC) tetrahydrocannabinol. Amongst the teenagers it is now an everyday habit and this happens because of Curiosity, which is one of the first causes or reasons why teenagers take marijuana and this happens when they are curious to experience for themselves how it feels to take it in and how it feels after taking it in since they heard it is fun and could make someone act differently.
Another and the most common reason is PEER PRESSURE. This is caused when they are trying to impress their friends to feel cool and it is a very strong effect on young people who don’t take it and that is how teenagers start using cannabis.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion, marijuana, which is a class B drug within the United Kingdom legislation should not be legalized for young teenagers but could be for medical purposes to save peoples life. If legalized for young teenagers it could result in death and addiction of a lot of teenagers just like the way Alcohol is legalized and it kills people. Marijuana is a drug that is harmful to a person¡¯s health. It has been found to have adverse impacts on one¡¯s mental processes such as memory, attention, judgement, and problem- solving (Butcher, Mineka, Hooley, 2004, p.415). Also, marijuana can interfere with a person¡¯s ability to think rationally and logically. Moreover, the long-term use of marijuana may cause chronic breathing problems and cancer ...
First of all, some people feel smoking marijuana can get hyper, which providing them the emotion of happiness, and helping them to see the world from a different perspective. However, marijuana will cause a lot of healthy problems to human’s body. Marijuana has many physical effects on human such as rapid heart rate, red eyes and dry mouth. Because the chemical THC will enter into the body when people are smoking it, THC will enter through the bloodstream to the brain. The chemical affects them to feel ecstasy and unreality; therefore, THC will make them feel more confused if people smoke marijuana for a long time. In my opinion marijuana should be legalized, regulated and sold safely for those who are at least 18 years of age. There are many reasons why I feel this way. First off in the article “The Top Ten Reasons Marijuana Should Be Legal “ they state that there are millions of regular marijuana smokers in America and millions more infrequent smokers. The article also states that marijuana is clearly less harmful than legal drugs such as alcohol. This article also informs us that marijuana has positive attributes as both a medicine and a recreational drug without very many side effects. Those are just a few of the many reasons why it should be legal.
In conclusion Marijuana has positive effects on both society and the wellbeing of individuals and should be legalized. It would be a logical decision for the government to legalize Marijuana due to the fact that firstly the government can monitor and tax Marijuana thus helping the economy. Secondly Marijuana can be used as medical therapy; thirdly there would be less youth and adults in jails and prisons. Point in fact the government would be able to manage all facets about Marijuana as follows price, importation and exportation and diminishing any drug cartels/markets. Additionally youth would not be prosecuted with possession of cannabis and fear an undetermined future. Lastly the positives incidentally outweigh the negatives over this concerning topic and thus a monumental decisions to legalize Marijuana.
Being a young teenager myself, I was exposed to marijuana by the time I reached junior high. I would see my friends smoking pot behind the school and wonder to myself “What is so great about this drug”? I was so afraid to try it because of the stories that my mother would tell me or what the teachers would say during health class. Once I reached high school, I had several friends getting “high” every day. My first period was computer class and I could see how many of my friends didn’t want to do the assignments because they were completely zoned out. Nevertheless, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. So I decided to smoke pot one day at my friend’s house, and to my surprise I fell asleep. I was disappointed because I was told by my friends, how it will make you laugh and have a good time. Instead I ended up being paranoid and anxious and afraid my parents would notice my glazed look once I came home from school. I eventually stop smoking pot because of the affect it had on my ability to function in school and at home. Plus, I was looking for a part-time job and wanted to make sure I could pass a drug test.
It reduces the IQ of an individual. People who smoke marijuana do not have a normal brain structure, and their memory is poor. According to a study at Northwestern University, the marijuana user’s brain has changes that make it look like schizophrenia. Marijuana has worse effects on the brain when people start using it while young. The cannabis destroys the neurocognitive performance of youth. It leads to psychological problems, increased moods, and anxiety. Marijuana impairs people’s judgment and leads to high crime rates. People who smoke marijuana are also less successful in life than people who don’t smoke. Many of them drop out of schools and even loose relationships because other people don’t want to be associated with people who smoke it (Hawkins,

It’s dangerous, addictive, and destroys millions of teen lives, that is what we are led to believe about marijuana. We have been conditioned to think it is bad and the people that use it are bad. Over 98 million people over the age of 12 have smoked. It is very common, and plays a substantial role in modern day pop culture. The problem is that so many of us are unfamiliar with all the benefits marijuana provides. Instead of assuming it’s dangerous, as a country we should keep an open-mind to the positives it may bring to the United States. That is why the legalization of marijuana should be available for those at least 21 years of age because of the economic, health and social benefits.
My best friend used to smoke marijuana on a regular basis. Over time, he developed many obvious bad habits and changed his life style tremendously. He started getting lazy with schoolwork, and did not show much interest in anything at all. His parents noticed all these side effects that had been occurring but were unaware that their son smoked marijuana. After the grades fell so much, they decided to take him to get checked out because they were afraid he had developed some sort of ADD. They come to find out that because of him smoking so much marijuana it had led to brain problems, memory problems and affected his thinking skills. He was unable to stay concentrated on something and constantly was out of breath when any physical activity took place. My friend finally quit smoking marijuana because he saw what it was doing to his life. Many teens try marijuana not knowing all the side effects that come with this drug. This drug has many misconceptions from when it is really legal to what marijuana will actually do to your body. People think that marijuana is the most harmless drug because one never hears of people dying from it or getting deathly ill. This is false because marijuana does things to the body that can not be seen from the outside. The majority of the damage is in the brain and lungs which can get extremely dangerous. All the bad side effects from this drug will really harm people’s bodies and ruin their futures and lives.
The use of drugs and mind-alternating substances has been a part of society for decades. The ‘high’ that people attain from the use of such substances is very attractive and exciting however, the effects of this use are minimized. Particularly for youth, a group of individuals who are seeking independence and experimentation, drug use represents the balance between taking risks and taking responsibility for one’s actions. However, the developmental processes of adolescents are known to not encompass the maturity required to fully think through such decisions. As such, the use of a ‘smaller-scale’ drug like marijuana is even more minimized. The purpose of this paper is to discuss what the risks of using marijuana are for youths, why they are the most affected, how this problem has progressed over the last three decades, and what preventative measures and treatment options are in place. It will also discuss what schools, parents, and government agencies could be doing to help improve the issue, and the impact that this issue is having on society.

People have been fighting for the legalization of marijuana for a long time. Many people use this drug and find absolutely nothing wrong with it. Others find it disgusting and are opposed to the legalization of it. The earliest use of marijuana was documented in 7000 B.C. The ancient Greeks, Egyptians, and many others used it for medical purposes. Marijuana was first used in the United States during the 1800’s and was banned in 1937 without any reason given by the government except that “it was for our own good” (Block, “Why Marijuana Became Illegal”). Marijuana should be legal everywhere in the world because, although it is highly addictive, marijuana is not as harmful as tobacco and alcohol, having a regulated market for it would reduce the sale and use of it amongst people under the age of eighteen, and the government can save and make money off of it.
The motive for smoking marijuana unlawfully depends on the user. Unlawful smoking of marijuana is done for several reasons; these include peer pressure, pressure from outside the peer group, the desire to relax, and the need to even identify themselves with popular media icons. The effects of the substance also cause symptoms that seem to be highly desirable. When smoking marijuana the user feels a sensation of exuberance, as ideas begin to flow more easily, creative and philosophical thinking emerges. Music becomes more appreciated as a deeper bond is felt. The user's awareness of their senses increase while a pleasant feeling takes over the body. In the end, an enhancement between mind ...
