"Let them eat cake," said Marie Antoinette as a queen of France, but when she was just at the age of 37 she was charged with incest and much more due to the anti-royal sentiment of the French revolution. The remarkable thing about Marie Antoinette was the fact that even though she seemed to have it all together and be on top of the world as Queen of France she had her life ended by the guillotine. Marie Antonia Josepha Joanna was born on November 2, 1755 (biography.com editors). Marie was born in Vienna of Austria to her mother named Maria Theresa and her father Francis I Holy Roman Emperor. She was the 15th child of the Holy Roman Emperor Francis I (history extra staff). Marie Antoinette was engaged at the young age of 14 to her husband King Louis XV. Her wedding consisted of 5000 guests 57 carriages, 117 footmen, and 36 horses. "Let them eat cake" is a phrase they say Marie Antoinette said, but most people believe that she didn't because it was a rude remark to peasant because they couldn't afford to get bread or any pastries. Marie died on October 16, 1713. On August 2, 1793, she had been taken to her cell below the prison courtyard. After a few months of being in the cell with her children, they had to take them away from her because they were becoming attached. Once the guards started feeling sympathy for the kids and Marie they had to take the children away(History extra staff).
