Marie Antoinette
Marie Antoinette was the wife of King Louis XVI of France. She was born in
1755 in France and was the daughter of the Great Emperor Francis I and Maria
Theresa of Austria. Because here parents came from two countries at war with each other, their marriage formed a peace treaty. Marie was very spoiled and grew up with an extravagant lifestyle. She herself became the wife of the next heir to the French throne to further keep the peace. The heir was Louis
XVI, who was a very dull and unsociable person. She was the opposite. She was beautiful, vivacious and bent on pleasure. She became very insensitive to the plight of poor people. When she was queen, her spending only aggravated the difficult economic crisis of the country. She didn't seem to care. A famous story about Mar...
How are a Pakistani girl and an NYPD Officer similar? Both the Pakistani girl, Malala Yousafzai and the NYPD Officer, Moira A. Smith have qualities of heroism. But what makes them a hero? Was heroism thrust upon them or did they seek it out? Malala was shot in the head in 2012 because she wanted an education; likewise, Moira risked her life multiple times to save people just because it was her duty. Why does this make them heroic?
The word usage from Bless Me, Ultima exemplifies the loss of innocence throughout. Anaya utilizes the concept of age and descriptions as a tool to identify losing innocence. For example, Tony states, “I only felt tired, and older” (Anaya 165). This proves that the use of the word “older” (Anaya 165) shows that as one ages

The diary of Anne Frank, written over a two-year period, tells about her life while she and her family are in hiding in Holland. They are staying in a secret attic of the office building where Mr. Frank used to work in order to escape from the Nazis during World War II. During their stay in the annex, they are supported by several people in the office building, who risk their own lives to insure the secrecy of the Jewish hideout and to provide them with food and basic supplies. Much of Anne's diary tells about the daily routine of the occupants of the attic.
Jews have perished because of their beliefs since the beginning of time but never have so many Jews been persecuted worldwide as they were in World War II. Anne Frank’s diary reaches a place within all of our hearts because it reminds us how easily the innocents can suffer. Sometimes we may choose to close our eyes or look the other way when unjustifiable things happen in our society and Anne’s tale reminds us that ignorance, in part, claimed her life. Sadly, her story is but one of many of those who died in the Holocaust and as with other Jews, her fate was determined by the country she lived in, her sex and her age.

Family, a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household. Although family is a concretely defined term, the idea of family varies from person to person. But, what makes a family? For those who are surrounded by loving blood relatives, for those who have never known the one to grant them life, for those who have left their blood behind for a more loving and nurturing environment, what can commonly define a family? Family is something defined by the individual. Family includes those who you have come to love, whether platonically or romantically, those you have suffered with, those you have come to respect, and most importantly those you have cared for and in turn have cared for you. To one that could mean people who

According to dictionary.com,” Mechanical Engineering is the branch of engineering dealing with the design, construction, and use of machines.” Their job is to take an idea and actually make it happen. Doing this takes a lot of knowledge and skills. They first start off with an idea that they have. Then they try to make a small module of it. They do this so they know what the product will work without spending a lot of money on it. They have to find the right materials to do this. The materials have to be able to withstand a lot of things nature has to throw at it. Like rain, dust, lightening, and many more things. After they have to make sure the produce is safe. When all of this is done they build the real thing.
Poverty, also know as the “silent killer” (Causes of Poverty), exists in every corner of the world. The death rate of poor children is a staggering number; about 9 million die each year. Some view poverty as people not being able to afford an occupational meal or having to skip a meal to save money. This isn’t true poverty; poverty is where people live on $1.25 or less a day. According to Causes of Poverty, 1.4 billion people live like this. Even more shocking than the last statistic is that half of the world’s population lives on $2.50 per day.
I want you to think back to what might be the greatest invention ever. Dependant upon how well you know your history you could possibly say the wheel, the car, the airplane, the television, the autonomous robot. All of these are great ideas that have different eras in history, but they all have something in common, these creations were all invented by engineers. Do not get the misconception that engineers have been around since the dawn of time but the concept of engineering itself has. Those great revolutionaries all had ideas and solved problems which are still qualities that engineers of this day and age use. Webster defines engineering as, “the work of designing and creating large structures or new products or systems by using scientific methods.” Those people created new products so they would today be considered engineers, but they are slightly different. What makes them different is the field that they would be considered a part of. The broadest one of the oldest forms is mechanical engineering, which is my future profession.
To begin, there are two main types of poverty in the world, non-income and income poverty (ZPRP). Non Income Poverty is when people may have money, but only a little to keep themselves alive (ZPRP). They don’t have the money to afford physical services and social events such as schooling, work, medicines, health care, sanitation, and transportation (ZPRP). The best way to condense the cause of non-income poverty is to make sure that individuals have access to inexpensive and exceptional social services, that they feel safe when in their homes and that they have family and friends to protect them when needed (ZPRP). Income poverty is when people are living on less than 1 dollar a day, which is far from the normal amount a family can survive on (ZPRP). They tend to not have fresh food and water, medicine, live in poor houses, sometimes no houses, and have dirty and ragged clothes (ZPRP). Just as there are many types of poverty, there are many effects to it to.
