In Williams Shakespeare’s work The Tragedy of Julius Caesar a character named Marcus Brutus, the most intricate character in this play possesses a fatal flaw that eventually leads him to his downfall: thus symbolizing him as the tragic hero of this piece. Brutus’ naive nature is reflected in his actions throughout the play: for example he believed Cassius and the other conspirators to also share the same motive, but he had misjudged them. Unlike his own, the other conspirators’ motive to kill Caesar was for their own egocentric reasoning. He was the only noble man among the conspirators who joined the conspiracy because he believed that killing Julius Caesar was necessary in order to keep Rome from becoming a tyranny.
