A man is sensible to appreciate prosperity until he has tasted adversity. Adverse situations shape an individual’s identity, and play a significant role in one’s life by shaping personal values., determining one’s own potential and self-worth. Malala Yousafzai conveys how hardships shape individuals identities through her incident of being shot in the head by a Taliban who envied female presence of attending schools. Malala’s desire for universal education, and optimistic world-view despite her obstacles became a testament to how one’s personal character, and inner strength can transform any situation for the positive; The Taliban’s aim to silence Malala only served to amplify her voice, and message. Therefore, Malala has become a worldwide symbol for equality, and unity of individuals. To me, Malala is a role model that everyone regardless of his or her race, religion, or age can look towards, and learn from her experience in order for one to become successful, in their lives. “One child, one teacher, one book, and one pen can change the world”.
