Hero: Malala Yousafzai “Hero, an ordinary person facing extraordinary circumstances and acting with courage, honor, and self-sacrifice” -Unknown. Heroes are vital to humanity, they influence towards improvement, they are an aspiration, they lead, protect, and inspire the society. According to Merriam-webster, a hero is a person who is admired by the society for his/her achievements, brave acts, and noble qualities. Malala Yousafzai’s bravery and hope towards the universal education of young girls and their fundamental rights when confronted by the Taliban, proves that she is indeed a hero. Malala Yousafzai was born on July 12, 1997, in Mingora,Pakistan. Yousafzai attended a school that her father founded. Her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai In 2009, Yousafzai began writing blogs for BBC Urdu about living under the Taliban 's threats which denied females to having education,driving, and even go shopping. Because of her activism, she received an award for Pakistan 's National Youth Peace Prize, in 2011. Yousafzai and her family received numerous death threats. However, In 2012, Yousafzai was targeted by a Taliban assassin. On her way to school she was shot in the left side of her head in which she was taken to a hospital in Great Britain and survived. And soon the story of Malala Yousafzai captured the world’s attention as Malala responded to the attack. “Dear friends, on the 9th of October, 2012, the Taliban shot me on the left side of my forehead. They shot my friends too. They thought that the bullets would silence us, but they Malala is very wise for her age and is quick to learn from her mistakes.She is ambitious and intelligent compared the girls in the society that she lives in. Not very often you see a female,in the middle east where females are oppressed, speaking for their right to education. That is what you call bravely, Yousafzai put her and her family’s life in danger and stood up for the better of the nation. First, Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani civil rights activist fighting for equal education in her country. Both Malala and her father, who ran a school close to their house, were threatened by the Taliban to stop allowing girls to go to the school and stop speaking outright about equal rights. However, Malala was already an advocate for girls education, writing on a BBC blog under a pseudonym, and neither her nor her father would back down. As a result, the Taliban attacked Malala’s bus one day as she was going to school, singling her out, the terrorists shot her three times and injured some of her friends. Although she
A Taliban leader said that if girls did not stop going to school within a month, there would be repercussions. Instead of capitulating, this proclamation only made Yousafzai more passionate and courageous. She continued to attend school, despite the numerous threats and causes for fear. As an education activist, she was in more danger than most of her classmates, so it was not safe for her to walk anywhere, instead she had to take a car or bus. One day, while aboard a school bus with her classmates and friends, two men entered asking which girl was named Malala. The other girls looked at Yousafzai which unintentionally gave away her location. The men shot 15 year old Yousafzai in a defining moment in history. This not only had consequences for her and her family, but it also had consequences for the citizens of Pakistan and people living around the world. This was a turning point because people began to realize that the Taliban would target anyone with opposing views, even teenage girls.

In response to her protest, a gunman approached her, and shot her three times. This assassination attempt started a global movement in support of Yousafzai and her beliefs. Like Thoreau, Gandhi, King, and Yousafzai, one must realize when others are being oppressed and take action against those in power who oppress the people they rule. She did not give a speech for revenge, however, she finds that talking about the importance of receiving education for all people at the time of shot. Further, Malala has a pure heart so she can’t hate Taliban. She has learned to be peaceful to all people from Muhammad-the prophet of mercy, Jesus Christ and Lord Buddha. And that what the religions asks people to be. She also talked about the importance of receiving education, and how educated people are stronger than uneducated people. That is the cause why Taliban against education. Malala pointed that peace and education are related to each other. Moreover, she presented that women and girls should be encouraged to receive education therefore they are the most individuals who suffering from inequality to be educated.
The intended audience for the book I Am Malala was mainly meant for people who want to know more about the life and politics in Swat, Pakistan. From a young age Malala Yousafzai was told she would be a great politician,“Even as a toddler you talked like a politician” her father would tease her (142). Yousafzai talks a lot about how her life changed in Swat when the Taliban took over, and she explains “When I was in the street it felt as though every man I passed might be a Talib” ( Yousafzai 135). She says that the Taliban would blow up girls schools, because they felt that it was “haram and un-islamic” (Yousafzai 94).
