Major Theorist Paper: Sigmund Freud
THE FOUNDATION
What can I say about Sigmund Freud that has not been said before? Sigmund Freud is known as the “Founding Father of Psychoanalysis.” I have been reading a book about Sigmund Freud which seems quite interesting called, “Freud’s War with God” by Jack Wright, Jr., Ph.D. I will need to go over Sigmund Freud’s Life, the historical context, educational training, and review of major tenants of Sigmund Freud’s model.
NATAL AND DEMISE
Sigmund Freud was born in a small Moravian town of Freiberg in May 6, 1856. Sigmund Freud was born originally as Sigismund Schlomo Freud. He died of suicide in September 23, 1939 in London, England. Wright (1994) writes, “At the end of his life, ravaged by cancer, Freud asked his personal physician for a lethal dose of morphine—physician assisted suicide” (pg. 110). Sigmund Freud must have been in extreme pain for Sigmund Freud to have asked his physician to assist him to die. Sigmund Freud wanted to decide when to die and not allow God to decide for him.
EARLY LIFE
Jacob Freud, Sigmund Freud’s father, was a Jewish wool merchant in who could barely make ends meet lived in a hostile and in time submitting environment. Jacob Freud was 42 years old when Sigmund Freud was born and was 20 years older than his mother and having two half-brothers from his father’s previous marriage. Sigmund Freud living situation was puzzling because his father looked as a grandfather and his half-brothers basically looked they could have been the fathers. Sigmund Freud was considered as the “Golden child” and he was called by his mother “my golden sigi.”
Walker (1992) wrote, “Sigmund had come into the world covered with a growth of pitch-black hair. His mother interpreted ...

FINALLY
I enjoyed reading Freud’s War with God but around the middle of it was a little bit upsetting. Sigmund Freud was using his theories to excuse people’s behavior. It was not their fault, it was everybody else’s fault but not for the one who committed the behavior. Psychopath and Sociopaths are free of guilt of their actions. Freud’s resentment to religion was an uncontrolled obsession. At the end, Sigmund Freud got what he wanted he is well known as the “father of psychoanalysis” but should be remembered also as the “father of child abuse.” Ultimately even if he disregarded it later on Sigmund Freud discovered the abuse.

Sigmund Freud was born in Freiberg, Moravia in the year of 1856. Crain said that Freud was smart, so his family fully supported him to continue his studies (137). Boring points out, in Freud’s early life, he discovered the medical usage of cocaine (433). Later, his marriage and parenthood brought him contentment, therefore, it was understood that he “was strengthened in support of his own theory of sexuality and in withstanding the odium sexuale that was directed towards him” as his sexual wants to male dominance and to monogamy were conservative and fundamental (Boring 434). In the year of 1902, another famous psychologist was born in Frankfurt, Germany, Erik Erikson, but he was not a psychologist firstly. He was known that he did not graduate from high school because he was not interested in school education (Woolfolk 67). However, the event of meeting with Sigmund Freud changed his life, and he started to study child psychoanalysis (Woolfolk 67). The most...
Sigmund Freud is known as the founding father of psychology. If it wasn’t for Freud and his work psychology probably wouldn’t be around today (Javel, 1999). Although Freud had many followers there were some who didn’t agree with his work and found his work to be very controversial. There were also many who criticized his work, one of his most controversial and criticized work was his psychosexual stages of development and his believes about the famous “Oedipus Complex.” Psychoanalysis is the first known modality used to treat individuals with psychological disorders. Freud’s work was a foundation for many whether they believed in his work or not. From his work other psychologist
