If not, you’re simply a follower.” Based on Tan Sri Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s statement, its show that leader is a people that guide another people and groups to accomplish common goal. Another definition of leader is people that influences the belief, opinions, or behaviors of a person, group, or group of people. Leadership mean an actions committed by a person or group that produce an output or result. It simply helps people to get things done. It is not based on position in a hierarchy. Autocratic leadership, also known as authoritarian leadership, is a leadership style characterized by individual control over all decisions and little input from group members. Autocratic leaders typically make choices based on their own ideas and judgments and rarely accept advice from followers. Autocratic leadership involves absolute, authoritarian control over a group. Next, Democratic leadership, also known as participative leadership, is a type of leadership style in which members of the group take a more participative role in the decision-making process. Researchers have found that this learning style is usually one of the most effective and lead to higher productivity, better contributions from group members, and increased group morale while Laissez-faire leadership, also known as delegative leadership, is a type of leadership style in which leaders are hands-off and allow group members to make the decisions. To solve this problem, leaders must listen to the voices they hear from team members, advisors/supervisors, outside voices and our inner voice. Besides that, learn to pay attention to the voices we hear and how to interpret properly. Lastly, not providing feedback. Some team member has their lack that can affect their goal. So as team leader, we must learn how to provide regular feedback to our team and correct them. In teamwork also has problems. Firstly, lack of team support and trust. Team leaders who do not motivate the team members enough may find it hard to work on the team goals and if team members do not trust each other only weaken the team’s efforts. Without a level of trust, members tend to hold back or doubt information shared within the team. To solve this problem, they must build and increase level of trust and automatically they will support each other during do any work. Next, self-centeredness. Selfishness, or caring more our one’s self than for other, actually damages the interests of everyone in a team. A team should function as a group working toward a common interest, but selfishness causes the team to splinter, as each individual strives toward what he sees as his interest. Overcome this problem with put aside our own interests and work toward the goals of the team. Besides that, difficulty in making decisions also makes the teamwork has a problem.
