Macbeth by William Shakespeare is a play that centers on a misconstrued prophecy, lies and betrayal among peers. Macbeth’s personality from the beginning is that of a courageous and noble hero; however as the play progresses you come to see how lies and a villainous thirst for power can misconstrue a man’s true motives. Macbeth’s judgment becomes clouded when the prophecy of a kingdom in his name was foretold by the weird sisters. From that point on he begins his descent into darkness, his fatal flaw of letting others control his destiny begins to manifest itself.
In the begging we hear of Macbeths heroic actions on the battlefield a tale is told of how he unflinchingly fought against Macdonwalds forces and the crushing defeat the Scottish army delivered. In act one scene two at camp near Forres the sergeant addresses King Duncan and gives Macbeth high praise “For brave Macbeth--well he deserves that name-Disdaining fortune, with his brandish'd steel, which smoked with bloody execution”.
