Shakespeare’s Macbeth tells a story about the delicate balance between opportunity and greed. In this classic book William Shakespeare shows his readers the negative repercussions that happen when a person drops everything to get what they want. Macbeth valued his title more than the life of others. The theme or message that this novel displays is that in the end Macbeth got what he wanted, but he lost everything he had in the process. Critics fell in love with the play as soon a they saw it in 1606 live when Shakespeare first debuted itas stated by Columbia encyclopedia. Even today, this play is performed at many schools and events because of its popularity and the message it offers. On top of that, Shakespeare used many literary devices while writing Macbeth. One example would be the many asides and soliloquies that Shakespeare uses to show what the actors are really feeling and thinking. An aside is when an actor is on stage and talks to the crowd rather that the other actors. Also, the characters that Shakespeare developed are very believable. Macbeth is a power hungry man who is willing to do anything to get the crown and anything to protect it once he gets there. Lady Macbeth pushes her husband to kill the King. As Moss states, “ Worried about the witches' prophecy concerning Banquo's family gaining the throne. Macbeth hires assassins to murder the nobleman and his son, Fleance. Banquo is slain, but Fleance escapes.”(pg 8) Banquo is Macbeth's honest friend who ultimately gets killed for being in the wrong place at the wrong …show more content…

I personally learned many things from reading this book. One thing I learned was the at greed can only lead to destruction in the end. Zott conveys, “Late twentieth-century interpretation of Macbeth has continued the process of studying the complex thematic nuances of this tragedy, particularly in its combined and potentially apocalyptic treatment of evil, violence, and sexuality.”(pg 13) After I read it I also helped me understand other people and what they thought. There is often a little bit of Macbeth in all of us. That is also why I would recommend it to other students and people in general.
