March 8, 2014, an official report was made by Malaysia Airlines confirming its flight MH 370 had lost contact with the Subang Air Traffic Control a few hours after it took off from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). This flight, which was scheduled for Kuala Lumpur to Beijing has not only traumatized those families involved, but has also created mass controversial issues in the next following weeks. As the world watched through the eyes of media, this mysterious incident was quickly reported by them with such bizarre conspiracy theories about this missing flight provided by these media as a perfect move to sell their news and stories. Amazingly, among those theories was including the act of jihadist terror threat from the Malaysian Muslim, as to mimic the incident of 9/11. In one of his Tweets, Rupert Murdoch, an Australian American business magnate, mentioned that “777crash confirms jihadists turning to make trouble for China. Chance for US to make common cause, befriend China while Russia bullies.” How could this ambiguous case even possibly be related to an act of terror? What drives him, as well as the rest of the world to deduce such an irresponsible accusation?
This is one of the extreme examples towards the misconception and skeptical minds that the global world swallowed through the period of post 9/11. As the rest of the world fully relies on the media to get access to this incident, they brilliantly used this opportunity to brainwash our mind with conspiracy theories of terrorism and the jihadist movement. Despite all this blind charge, what does it really mean by the term ‘jihad’, in the exact context as it is mentioned in the Koran?
