4.1 INTRODUCTION
In this thesis, MATLAB/SIMULINK (version 11) software has been used to design and develop the control circuit for dc to ac conversion and analyze simulation in MATLAB environment along with Simulink and power system block set (PSB) toolboxes. The name MATLAB symbolizes for MATrix LABoratory. MATLAB was written initially to give easy access to matrix software developed by the LINPACK (linear system package) and EISPACK (Eigen system package) projects.
MATLAB is a good quality performance language for technical computing. It combines computation, visualization and programming environment. Furthermore, MATLAB is a modern programming language domain. It has cynical data structures contains built-in editing and debugging tools and guides object-oriented programming. MATLAB has much superiority over conventional computer languages (e.g. C, FORTRAN) for determining technical problems. MATLAB is an interdependent system whose basic data element is an array that does not need dimensioning. The software package has been commercially present in market since 1984 and is now scrutinized as a standard tool in most of the universities and industries worldwide. It has a powerful built-in routine that gives a very wide variety of computations. It also has easy to use graphics commands that form the visualization of results instantaneously available. Special applications are collected in packages known as toolbox. There are some toolboxes available for signal processing, symbolic computation, control theory, simulation, optimization and certain other fields of applied science and engineering. 4.3 Parameters of ZSI Test System
