The victim is nineteen year old Khadijah Stewart. Stewart had grown up in the south side of Richmond, Virginia (a high crime area) where she met a boy named Tommie. Both were in middle school but Tommie soon got arrested for robberies and gun charges, he was sentenced to life as a juvenile. As time goes on Stewart forms a history of dating bad boys. The main on and off again boyfriend throughout her high school years was a young man named Lionel. In High school Stewart is skipping school to hang out Lionel and his gang members. Afraid how the streets could impact Stewart, the mother moves the family to Chesterfield County, a successful middle class suburbs, to create new life. One day Tommie shows up at her house unexpected after been released from Juvenile due to better lawyers and good behavior. Stewart is happy and decides to get back together with him. Now Tommie is a part of a Northside gang in Richmond, while Lionel is associated with a Southside gang in Richmond. Both of them want the girl so drama and violence starts to spill over. According to Richard Felson, a professor of criminology and sociology at Pennsylvania State University, love triangles often contain “infidelities that are perceived as transgressions and they are likely to lead the offended party to feel angry and aggrieved at the partner. The phrase "she done him wrong" reflects this sentiment. Offended parties may believe that they have been abandoned, deserted, or betrayed. They may terminate the relationship, or confront the partner, seeking an explanation or reconciliation. However, the belief in retributive justice sometimes leads the offended party to get even by punishing the partner in some way”. When the first responder got to the scene he adimatately meet the 911 caller, who lead him to a car in an apartment parking lot. The car doors were closed and all of the windows were fogged. The police officer used his flashlight to see inside of the car before opening the door. He found a young African American woman who had been shot several times. The officers quickly called for backup, investigators and medical personnel. While awaiting for their arrival he secured the crime scene with caution tape, creating an initial perimeter setup as discussed in lecture two. Once everyone arrived he left it to them to search the car while he talked to the 911 caller, witnesses and others who had information on who had been present in the car. The investigators were able to collect physical evidence of bullets and cartage casings that were found outside the vehicle and inside the vehicle on the floorboard of the driver’s side. The team determined the bullets came from a 40 caliber. Other types of physical evidence that were found on the scene were the bloody clothing on the victim, the victim’s cell phone and fibers in the car from the driver’s side. personnel at the scene crime took several photographs, powered test for finger prints and did a blood spatter analysis.
