The lamp Juliet used to find her way into the garden is a symbolic reference to the secretive nature of their love story. They were ready to run away from the reality, even escape this town for a while.
Coming back to the reality Juliet is suffocated in her home, as everyone keeps telling to not love Romeo because of the continuing feud. This love is difficult, but it’s real. She wants to make it out of this mess as long as Romeo is beside her. She got tired of waiting, wondering if Romeo will come around. Just as she was about to lose her faith in him, He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said, "Marry me, Juliet, you'll never have to be alone, I love you and that's all I really know, I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress, It's a love story, baby just say yes".

As a kid, I read the comic version of Romeo and Juliet and it confused me enough when I read the book. So, when “Love Story” was released, my friends believed Swift’s version where everything ends in the happily ever after. I had to literally sit there and explain to all of them that in the classic tale the star cross lovers die and their families are united on their death. Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is a play commonly viewed and known as a true love story; however, after analyzing several hints portrayed by the protagonists, it is evident that Shakespeare did not intend to make Romeo and Juliet seem like a true love story but a criticism of how superficial society’s view on love is.
Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet – popularly considered by many to be the quintessential love story of all time – is a play that we are all familiar with in one way or another. Whether it be through the plethora of portrayals, adaptations and performances that exist or through your own reading of the play, chances are you have been acquainted with this tale of “tragic love” at some point in your life. Through this universal familiarity an odd occurrence can be noted, one of almost canonical reverence for the themes commonly believed to be central to the plot. The most widely believed theme of Romeo and Juliet is that of the ideal love unable to exist under the harsh social and political strains of this world. Out of this idea emerge two characters who, throughout history, have been heralded as the world’s greatest lovers and who have been set up as yardsticks against which future lovers must be measured. Despite what many people think, Romeo and Juliet is not a love story; rather a story of desperation and obsession. People have been reading Shakespeare for hundreds of years and several people have mistaken it for a love story, due to the fact that Romeo loves Juliet so much he is willing to kill himself when he finds her supposedly dead; she does the same when she wakes up to find him dead. But in fact, Romeo is more taken aback by her beauty than he is in love with her. Juliet is intrigued by the fact someone could love her because her parents are very unsupportive of her. It happened that in every certain time of the year the Capulets (Juliet’s family) made this great feast in which they invited all the townsfolk for except the Montagues, so as usual they sent their servants to invite the town’s people. One of the servants didn’t really know all of the Montagues and invited by accident Romeo and two of his friends to the feast. After much thinking Romeo and his friends, Benvolio and Mercutio, decided to go to the party. While the feast was taken place, the Capulets arranged a marriage for their daughter Juliet with count Paris, a kinsman to the prince of Verona without asking for Juliet’s opinion regarding this matter. When Romeo and Juliet saw each other, I would say that it was love at first site what happened between them. Soon after the party finished, Romeo asked one of his friends to tell him who was that girl with whom he had danced. When both of them realized whom they were, a feeling of discouragement invaded their heads but the love they had for each other was greater than their family’s antipathy; therefore, their affair had to be kept a secret until hopefully one day their families would come together.
I prefer to think of Romeo and Juliet as a love story with a tragic ending rather than a classic tragedy, because the love Romeo and Juliet find and share is beautiful and inspiring: there is nothing tragic about it.

The love between Romeo and Juliet can be described as an overpowering almost violent force wrought with overflowing passion that takes precedence over all other values, social loyalties or feelings. In a sense, this particular scene is a reverse balcony scene where Romeo must leave instead of Juliet. The lovers placate each other through reversals of thought, giving in to each other’s will. The willingness to give anything for every second together including death is the essence of the scene. Romeo lacks the capacity for moderation of emotions and feelings.
