That feeling, the burning sensation when something amazing crosses people’s mind; the feeling of love, is it real or fake? Most commonly, love is fake and is harmful to someone's wellbeing, such as in the stories Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, “The Raven” by Edgar Allen Poe, and lastly the article “Romantic Love: Reality or Myth?” by point/counterpoint. Love inflicts harm on the characters by giving false hope, leading to bad choices, and suppressing emotions with sorrow and depression. Love can lead someone to do things they would not normally do, such as bad choices to impress the other person. In “The Raven” by Edgar Allen Poe, he wrote, “Respite, respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore; Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore” (48). When love is torn and broken, the choices made can affect someone for life. When Lenore left the narrator, he made the horrible option to try and forget her.
