A topic that has sparked my curiosity from a young age is history. My love for history grew because my father would always watch episodes on the History Channel. I find history extremely intriguing because every single historical event that has happened somehow is connected to everything else. Every event has, or had, influence on a significant amount of people; everything is interconnected. I also find it incredibly fascinating that a single person is elected to be responsible for representing and governing hundreds of millions of people.
The most significant thing about history is that we, humans, are able to find out exactly how history influenced our modern living conditions. It is the fact that we can trace, step by step, the laws, bills, and wars that shaped our standards as a society. We can concretely study why laws and bills were established. My interest in history carried on to school projects where I researched the duties of the President, and how they influence the people. I was so invested in history, that one of my elementary school teachers, Mrs. Trask, claimed I should one day be the Governor of California.
My curiosity also transcended into the ancient civilization studies. In the fourth grade, as a G.A.T.E. (Gifted and Talented Education) student, I had to do an extensive independent research project that would be displayed to parents and district board members. My curiosity for history prompted me to research the ancient Mayan and Aztec civilizations. I learned about the way Mayan and Aztec culture came about and even built a model of the Pyramid of Chichen Itza. In the fitch grade, I had the option of doing the project again.
