Love. Everyone is familiar with that four-letter word, but do they actually know what it means? What is love exactly? Is love being with someone you care about the most? Or is liking something way more than you do? It is astounding to think that this four letter word could mean so much in many different ways and how it could affect your (or another person’s) life. Everyone has their own view on love. Whether it is a positive view or a negative one, somehow, love always finds a way to end up in a person’s life, even if they aren’t looking for it. Think about the relationships you have with people. You have relationships with your friends, family, and significant other. The love you have for them is different for each group. The way you love your family is largely unlike the one you have with your friends and your significant other. For example, in your family, love is everlasting. It is a fondness shared between a grandmother teaching her granddaughter how to bake or a father and son going to a special baseball game together. Take a mother and her child, for example. The love a mother has for her child is powerful and is nothing like anything else in the world. There is no true meaning. Everything and everyone has their own meaning and beliefs on the four letter word. We revolve our lives around love. It affects us. People can do some dreadful things out of hate and fear, but love can push us to do much, much worse. It is often love that can cause us to hate, whether it’s out of jealousy, or anger because something or someone that we know has been hurt. We depend so much on it. Love, ultimately, is a sacrifice, whatever the relationship, and it must be the most powerful force in the universe. As human beings, we make true sacrifices for nothing less.
