When I was 17 years old, I decided to leave my country in search of better opportunities, since Venezuela was, and still is, going through a phase of political polarization and major insecurity. I decided I wanted to apply to the Pennsylvania State University, and my dreams came true when I got accepted. At first, it was hard to make the decision to leave, but the experience was enriching. I graduated on May 2013 double majoring in Broadcast Journalism and a BS in Economics with Cum Laude distinction, and along the way of constructing my professional career; I discovered my interest in the field of Human Resources. During my studies at Penn State I interned for several companies. My first working experience was at Cadena Capriles, for their radio station in Caracas, Venezuela as a part-time show producer. During the summer between my Junior and Senior year, I landed an internship at BBC Worldwide Channels in Miami, Florida, where I worked for the marketing and communications department. By that time I was sure I wanted to focus on Public Relations, I enjoyed being the mediator betwee...
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE – By Mahendar Reddy Kaukuntla There are few decisions in life that will affect you as profoundly as the decision to seek higher education. The degree you earn is both a ticket to personal and professional fulfillment and a badge representing hard work and dedication. The world is built by people who have trusted to their own unshaken will in hope and in despair. Those are the heroes, the idealists who amidst the gulf of solitude more isolating than that, which surrounds a dying man, could think great about their future. Their lives foment many spirited acolytes for whom destiny is no matter, a chance, but a matter of choice and it is nothing to be waited for, but a thing to be achieved.
Hi Amber, first of all I just want to say congratulations on being awarded Officer of the Month, Officer of the Year and earning a position with the Federal Bureau of Investigation task force. Sounds like your drive to remain proactive eventually paid off. Like you, I tend to be most proactive professionally and more reactive in my personal endeavors. I have been with my current employer for almost seven years and even though I am extremely proactive, unfortunately the opportunity for advancement is very limited. However, I continue to tread on with the hope that someday it will pay off. I too, have set my goal to be more proactive in my personal life especially, where my health and exercise is concerned. For the past seven years I have been
I would like to begin this reflection paper with my past experiences. First, I am an older student – obtaining my first bachelors from Hofstra University. As a sophomore in broadcast journalism, I was assigned the task of interviewing a graduate student in speech-language pathology as part of a career exploration video for incoming freshman. Filming her and her fellow classmates as they helped children overcome their stutter and gain both confidence and a voice, I was fascinated by the amazing work they were doing. But I had already begun searching for a career path in public relations, soon taking a job at a public relations firm on Long Island focusing on business clients. Within three months, I started dreaming about a career more than a
This past autumn, I took advantage of an opportunity to visit Falls Communications with a group of my fellow John Carroll students. We were very impressed with your agency and, of course, the people we met there. Taken with the versatility, creativity and work ethic of the agency, I decided right then and there should an internship opportunity come up with Falls Communications that I would jump on it. It has, and I am!
When looking into the variety of available jobs in Public Relations,, I surprised myself by what positions I was interested in. Of the 3 positions I selected for this assignment, 1 is in the sports industry and 2 ended up being in the world of music. I have always thought that I would end up in sports but it quickly became evident that though there were a significant amount of jobs available in sports, the majority of them were more closely related to marketing, whereas I am more interested in media and campaign development. This prompted me to look outside of the sports industry, and I was surprised to find numerous positions I was interested in. Though there are limited jobs available in the realm of PR, I have found through this assignment
In an effort to gain a working understanding of the Human Resources field, I chose to interview the Director of Human Resources for an organization in Miami, Florida. What I learned goes far beyond any classroom or textbook instruction. It is clear; the field of Human Resources will never be static, as society, technology, and legal environments change, so will the field of Human Resources.
Learning is a continuous process and the day that you stop learning is the day that you start decreasing your rewards and lower levels of satisfaction. My ardent desire to acquire knowledge has motivated me to pursue higher studies at graduate level, and to take up a career in research in industry. I have taken this decision after carefully considering my academic background, profound interest in research and strong aptitude for problem solving.
Saudi Arabia, although one of the richest nations in world, is home to a significant percentage of unemployed citizens. While the young generation in my country is energetic and ambitious to work, the reality is that they face social, economic, and developmental challenges, in addition to outdated labor regulations, all of which may prevent them from attaining fruitful careers or becoming effective employees. Such an observation was the biases of my decision to major in Human Resources Management upon commencing my high school studies with ambitions to address such issues through my future career.
Furthermore, a public relations career is much more closely grouped with media relations these days than journalism. In the book, Making it in Public Relations: An Insider’s Guide, it is said that Media relations is the most dominant function of public relations. Its basic role is the origination of press information and the handling of requests from the media about a specialist’s subjects and activities. After all, the main goal of specialists is to present a positive public image of their client to the public (Mogel). The possible types of clients and fields vary wildly from each other. Some specialists can work in public relations consulting firms and hold campaigns for many clients. Other specialists can work in the advertising departments of major brands and w...

I still remember the day when I was introduced to a look-alike machine of television when I was in the 5th Standard. I was gazing at that screen for a while pondering about what type of television screen it is! Yes, that was my first encounter with the ‘Computer’; however, I started developing interest towards computers when my father started using them for his business purposes. ‘A computer can eradicate the need of monotonous manual processes involved in handling day-to-day tasks’– the concept was fascinating enough to spark my interest towards this field. The further intensive research and discussions led me to explore the unbound opportunities present in this field.

Back at home, I was a student at the University of the Philippines taking up Bachelor in Secondary Education Major in Special Education from 2012 to July of 2015. During this period, I excelled in all of my subjects that led me to become a university scholar. Although I enjoyed every area of the discipline, I did extremely well
It was not at all what I thought it would be and I honestly realized along the way this is not a department I would want to work in. The desk work and the constant time on the computer really turns me off from working in any department that entails sitting in one spot for six hours. To counter that I did go out to shoot promotional videos and I had the opportunity to go to some events that I would never be able to go to without 6abc, but the time spent at the desk really makes those events less intriguing. I was hoping to do a lot more on camera projects when starting this internship, but I spent a lot of time behind the camera which I was not used to. I do think that having this internship was very important because it taught me a lot about how much goes into promoting a news station. I now appreciate all of the people that aren’t on television because they do most of the dirty work. Our talent do write some of their stories, but their job seems a lot more relaxing than some of the other employees. I loved interacting with the talent more than anything because I hope one day to be in their shoes. Adam Joseph is such a sweetheart and I am honored to have worked closely with him on projects along with all of the 6abc talent. Watching them with fans at events make me even more driven to be the best I can be and get a fan base like they all have
Information technology has changed and continues to change the ways people live in today’s rapidly changing world. Growing up in such an era had instilled in me a natural thirst for new technologies. Learning more and more techniques gave rise to my eagerness to become one of those prominent researchers who change the world with their outstanding research. However, neither my necessity of research skills nor my insatiable appetite for technologies is satisfied by my undergraduate education. So here I am applying for a Ph.D. degree.
