Lopez High School is known to have students that lie, cheat, and copy their fellow student’s work. It is quite arduous to believe that Lopez High School has an “active” honor code. This honor code is anything but a promise; indeed, it is just an agreement we sign and discard the rest of the school year. This “honor code” simply requires to be thoughtfully revised by to assure the code’s efficiency.
Even though, in the beginning of the school year all Lopez High School students are required to sign a code of conduct contract that states, a student caught cheating or plagiarizing another person’s work can lose credit for the course or even be expelled from the school. Yet many students find it easy to turn their head and copy their fellow student’s work or paste words from the …show more content…

Instead of having teachers supervising tests and assignments, creating a specially chosen student council to carry out this task can greatly reduce cheating. If these students were told that they were to be punished if they failed to report cheating students, without a doubt, cheating rates would go down. Another way plagiarizing and cheating can be reduced is by actually punishing students for copying other works, instead of witnessing teachers just pretending they didn’t see anything, would be a much more efficient way to stop cheating.
Many people might say this could jeopardize the future of many students, but it would be their fault for cheating and not others. On the plus side, the US needs a lot of street sweepers and workers to complete tasks and jobs many people would not like to do. Many also believe no matter what, students will cheat, and they are not wrong, students will cheat but now they will get caught.
Cheating and plagiarizing in high school can lead to very poor habits and draw backs that can greatly affect one’s future. Nevertheless, Lopez High School should revise and enforce its honor
